award availability with transit - online availability vs call centre?

Hi everyone

having a bit of a play on the search engine.

a straight SYD-JFK search brings up a SYD-DXB-JFK option but not the most preferable options.

there is however availability SYD-DXB, DXB-JFK with a transit of <24 hours - if i call up can i book this for the straight SYD-JFK points price? (the options on the web aren't on 1 flight number so i don't think that would play a factor)
