have been shopping for fares to HNL an JQ seems the biggest - but am not happy about paying them $125 (5 pax return) for credit card fees.

Just noticed that pricing out the same JQ itinerary on lastminute.com.au it prices out the same, plus they charge a $14.95 booking fee but no credit card fees..... I haven't finished the purchase but got as far as "Book/SUbmit" with no mention of credit card fees. Even read their T&Cs.

Anyone have any experience with lastminute.com.au and JQ an can either confirm or deny the above?

You could always investigate the JQ card (standard or platinum) offering JQ vouchers or QFF points, 1 per $ which may work out cheaper in the long-run.

I use the mobile site and a prepaid mastercard, a la Qantas Cash, no fees and at the moment 1 QFF point per $

I had a bad experience. When there was a sale on I applied for the card (in order to avoid the fees). It said it would take 10 business days to hear from them. 10 business days went by and nothing. After the 10 business days they call me and ask me to provide pay slips etc...... I cancelled my applicaton. Why:

1. does an application sit there for 10 days with absolutely no action taken whatsoever
2. why do they then ask for further info? why not ask at the time of application or soon thereafter...

IN the end I just couldn't be bothered, especially if this is an indication of their processes and customer service.

I haven't tested this yet, but if you do, let us know how it goes: No Cookies | Herald Sun

I emailed them asking the question - here is the reply i got:

Thank you for your email. We do not charge credit card fees on international or domestic bookings. But for domestic travel some airlines charge credit card fees which is stated in the final costs when you click go to book.

Hope this helps.

looks like i will be trying as no fees are listed before booking (other than $14.95 booking fee) so to me it would be a breach of contract for the to try and charge the credit card fees after booking and payment

Update - I did go through and bought tickets on lastminute.com.au - the fares which come through from JQ include their credit card fees (not expressly stated before you buy). so no saving here, and needless $14.95 booking fee :(

Just use your QF cash card! save the fees and get 1 point per $ as well so long as you use the mobile site.

I have found the mobile website blows on Windows Phone. Doesn't even work on IE for RT/Windows 8 (Metro). Works on IE for Windows 8 Desktop, Chrome, Firefox, etc, and on Safari, Firefox, Chrome for Mac.
Some testing by JQ's developers wouldn't go astray. IE10 for RT/WP8 has been out for over a year now, and IE11 is just the evolution from there.

Thanks for the above link here2go. Was giving the mobile site a practice run & when it comes to the payment details the drop downn box will still add the AUD8.50 fee for Amex, Visa, MCard except for JQ MC or Mastercard debit.

I realise that the QF Cash Card is okay for nil fee however if you enter your WWEDR MC under MC Debit with the 5494 cc prefix it doesn't add the AUD8.50 fee. The QF Cash card prefix is 5386.

Could one assume that the JQ Mobile site does not verify the bank identification (BIN) numbers re what's a credit card ie AUD8.50 charged vs what's a debit MC nil cc fee?
