re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Thanks guys. Explains a lot of the quirks that i was getting booking through the lifemiles system. The system seems to throw up errors when i book sin-icn-hnl with the sin-icn with SQ J class and icn-hnl with OZ J class. When you book separately they work but when you do it together there's an error. I've sent an email to lifemiles team anyway and they've asked for details and what i want booked so will work through with them.

You can now earn miles on award tickets with lifemiles. Hopefully there is a few more glitches to be found dazza ;)

Hi Shanye2233

How do you do that? Is that a new policy or is it a glitch????

Thanks
Joe

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Dunno was checking SFO-GIG and it came up with all these seats to select and milage earning awards. The Y seat earning miles is half the J seat earning miles so prices go up and possibly down if you can find the limited seats option without earning miles.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

the mileage earning awards are with AVIANCA/TACA. just like Qantas offer miles on Anyseat awards for QF flights. nothing to do with *A

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Correct. Nothing from LM. But there are from USDM and UA (ticket numbers not going across affecting OZ and SQ, and even with the R1 fares ex RGN, with TG with ticket numbers dropping off there). There is no reason to suspect that the LM booking engine is any more perfect than the others, or that a glitch can't occur at some time (for whatever reason). Always worth the few seconds of time. I usually ask the ticket number question when ringing to select seats.

further to this post, evidence on FT of lifemiles potentially not ticketing in time and sq reservation auto cancelling. if you are booking I would be checking for ticket number being issued (preferably i would say inside 24 hours) and that they are carried across to the other airlines.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Anyone had experience with date change only and not a routing change?

I'm thinking of staying longer in Paris and found availability for a few days after, is it just as easy as calling them up to change like an AA redemption?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Booked 4 seats in J from SIN-HNL using SQ and OZ in Oct. Intiially had problems as system would show flights there but wouldnt proceed any further to book. Used their support center via email over a number of days and whilst helpful they informed that there was a glitch with the system. Ended up choosing different dates and worked a treat. Checked booking in SQ system next day and all looked good. Must say as my first experience using lifemiles, i was impressed (although i didnt use the call centre)....

Hi All

I'm trying to book a flight LAX - EWR on the 20th August 2013 flying business, The search finds 2 flights on that day but when I try to finalise the booking it comes up with:-

Sorry, There was problem while processing your transaction.
Please try again. If the problem persists or you need additional information please contact LifeMiles Support.

Is anybody else having this problem??

Thanks

I had same problems with SIN-ICN-HNL with SQ and OZ. It appears that sometimes there are displayed routes which appear available but when you try to proceed it comes up with that error. The customer service department confirmed this for me. I suggest you check other dates/routes until you can proceed.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Yeah, I had a similar issue when trying to book an AKL-PER sector on NZ. An agent had to force a manual booking which was then royally screwed up, leading to multiple phone calls, emailed scans of ID and much gnashing of (my) teeth. By way of contrast, two online bookings went through without drama. My advice? If you can't book it online, it would best to have a Plan B.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I don't think there is a separate post for successful bookings using Avianca miles so I will post mine here for reference:

TG472, SYD - BKK F
TG970, BKK - ZRH F.

Unfortunately not their A380 but still very happy with the redemption, especially as it is for two. Eticket numbers were on Thai Airways' website five minutes after booking so I guess all is confirmed and we now only need to confirm seats with Thai directly. Overall, this has cost 84,000 points (purchased during 2:1 offer) plus US$1,830 so approx. US$1,545 per person. Not bad for First from Oz to Europe... Travel date is mid-August so I was actually quite surprised that there was availability, assuming this is peak season in Europe.

Now we need to work out how to get back, will hopefully lock something in on the weekend probably using Lifemiles again.

Thank you for the input provided on this forum, it is greatly appreciated!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Have to echo Peter78's comments. Thanks to all on this site for sharing their knowledge.

I've just booked family of 4 on J class for SIN-HND-HNL returning HNL-ICN-SIN with the legs from SIN on SQ and HND-HNL on ANA and HNL-ICN on OZ. Cost 120k points (purchased using 2:1) plus $2.6k overall. Now have to do SQ in Y from PER-SIN using lifemiles points and pay QF SIN-PER one way (which is really cheap from SIN).

Certainly beats going to HNL with QF from PER...couldnt stand going back on the 767 from SYD...once was enough...and this is still going to be way cheaper than going Y from PER-HNL using QF....

Don't be surprised. TG generally wide open, even at peak periods (some exceptions of course like Christmas). This is star alliance not Qantas we're talking about! (star alliance you can redeem awards you actually want to go and when you are ready to book them - not having to do so 365 days out!!)

Yep, that's why I send my credit card points mostly to SQ and also am an avid reader of the US/Lifemiles forum. Availability is WAY better on Star Alliance! Given my oldest is just starting university and second is still in school I have the situation where I need to find availability for 4 and frequently in or around school holidays, mission impossible on Qantas unless you are on the button 330 days out but have had relatively good success with SQ/TG etc. You still need to be looking a few months in advance but not 11-12 which is pretty hard for most of us to lock in dates that far ahead.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Can anyone give me a rough cost for MEL-HKT using life miles? I've got plenty of US Airways but IIRC Lifemiles allow one way's....

Aye. I snagged a SYD-xBKK-CDG in TG F in mid-August last year less than two weeks out from the departure date. The return was available too, even though I didn't need it.
