No, but you may get them starting in Singapore or a quick hop up to somewhere else in Asia...
Yes, but Singapore isn't Australia.

With the current promo you could do MEL>BKK>FCO return in J on Thai (170,000 miles) by purchasing 76000 miles + bonus for USD2500 which is approx AUD3500 +/- credit card fee.

The same flights (same dates) on revenue from an OTA are between AUD7300 and AUD7500.

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Ah of course... Thanks for reminding me, I always get those two mixed up!! ;)

Yes i'm sure it does seem pretty straight forward...

But then i don't think I will ever pay >$7000 for a ticket and to me personally i find even $3500 a bit steep... But i like paying as little as possible...

So like when Amex had that recent Virgin Amex card with the sign on bonus of 110,000 points, i managed to get two of those (plus another sign on bonus of 20,000 velocity points from some one else) all for the princely sum of about $700, took out an ANZ Black card and after spending enough got the 75,000 ANZ rewards points, a bit more spend put that up about 112,000 rewards points, did the recent transfer fron ANZ with several bonuses and now, with other monthly spend, my total on Velocity was about 350,000, can't think that cost me to much more than $1000 all up, just booked EY F MEL-AUH-DFW the other night and then might look at SQ Suites class back?

Again just another strategy...

Or could use points to fly J up to Singapore and maybe get J class paid return flight to LHR/CDG on Vietnam Airlines on there A350 for what, A$2300 or so???

Credit the miles to UA or somewhere and get another flight up to Asia or so out of it with out bothering to look at what the earning rate is for VN J with UA and what their current award chart looks like??

But yeah, as you say straight forward to go with Lifemiles... (I actually use to always buy bonus mile offers with LM and US Airways (apart from accumulating some QF points via CC sign ups) to fly J, but with the offers declining and the A$ falling, i now think its not quite so straight forward)

Where do I find information on the "screenshot method"

Where do I find information on the "screenshot method"

Send an email like this to [email protected]

Screenshots of each individual leg. Screenshot showing no availability as one booking.

Passenger names, gender and DOB.

They will either call you for payment or email the itinerary and give you 3 days to call up and make payment.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Thanks for that, how do you then make payment?

As I said above, they will either call you for payment or email the itinerary and give you 3 days to call up and make payment.

Sorry should add, over the phone is the only way to pay.

Make sure you have a couple of credit cards handy just in case one is rejected.

Is that strategy sustainable though? How often are you going to get sign up bonuses without churning CC's many times over?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Depends how often they offer it... This year I am burning through some AA miles for several F redemptions that i accumulated over several years with the devaluation and because i want to save my cash as just moved into a new house so lots of things to do...

Next year I will use my 350k velocity points as the back bone of a couple of F redemptions (could have been even more if i settled for J redemptions) plus maybe a few Y flights to the USA for a $1000 I might be able to upgrade to J and get points/miles off off and perhaps start recharging the AA acount (have to see what they do on the earn side of things with changes to the program), all the time i will be earning QF points from my credit card spend on everyday things and plus a CC sign up or two and maybe in 2018 I'll have 280k QF points to do a J class 280K One World award RTW trip, in that time Velocity might have another deal which I will do a sign up for or two for use in one of those years or for 2019...

Or maybe somewhere in there i will use points/$s to fly up to Kuala Lumpur and buy a return cash fare on Sri Lankan airways (that has quite a nice J seat on their A330s, like Cathay's) to Frankfurt in biz for around A$2000 and also get more points/miles in whatever the best program for earn there is and use those miles in 2019/2020??

I know its best to often focus on accumulating in only one or two programs but sometimes there are sweet spots in several where you might be able to get the points very cheaply and so while using one program one year, can use another the next...

I still have 80k Lifemiles from when i bought up a few years ago when the A$ was near parity sitting around with expiry early next year, so I guess a few more flights with a cash component might have to be taken in 2017 using them or one long reward flight using those lifemiles up...

I'm just saying its not always so straight forward to shell out quite a few $s to just buy Lifemiles as you may think... But if it works for you go ahead...

Make sure you have a couple of credit cards handy just in case one is rejected.

In some cases, it may also help to call and advise your credit card companies in advance of making payment, which may lessen the risk that the card will be rejected.

How long has it been taking for them to call/confirm? Submitted a request 24 hours ago but yet to hear anything...

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Quick query.... just checking I'm not overthinking it...

I booked a lifemiles redemption last month on TG (for travel 12 days from now), and afterwards received an email from lifemiles with the subject "lifemiles award ticket redemption" which contained the PNR and a summary of the booking and receipt for taxes etc....

When I look up the PNR on TG website, everything looks fine... when I put PNR into checkmytrip it also comes up fine and says confirmed and has e-ticket number there...

Question is... do lifemiles still send out the e-tickets like they used to? With the typewriter type font with all the booking info on it?

i usually get both versions from lifemiles, with them sometimes sending a number of copies of the old style format since i booked many months in advance

I'm wondering if I should be worried because I didn't receive the old style one....I worry I'll turn up at the airport and they'll tell me I'm not actually ticketed and then I have the mad rush to phone lifemiles before I miss my flight....
