re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

That would be PER-JNB-GRU on South African Airways but how you could get it for 42500 escapes me. It should be 85000 one way, not 42500 according to the new redemption chart
It must be a glitch in Avianca's booking engine or the author got confused and it's in economy

Definitely not economy! I checked in checkmytrip, definitely class I, and I even reserved my seats. Both leg seat 3G!

Maybe it was a glitch. But LM honored the booking and issued the ticket!

Good on you! You were lucky...there weren't too many on here who were aware the promo was on

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Would be happy to know this :)

I wasn't sure if it was a glitch or promo. It lasted 24 hrs last Tues, all redemption to and fro South America was half price. My routing wasn't a complicated one, simply PER - JNB - GRU with SAA. (I could've grabbed SIN - IST - GRU with SQ and TK, but someone beat me to it) My point is play with LM a bit and try all Australian port, and nearby *A hub. I live in BNE and I am willing to fly to Perth just to grab the deal.

There is another secret hidden city trick that I read in one blog bot not many others. But I don't want to reveal it as it might kill it. I am happy to PM it to you but you might already know about it. Its not Guam or Russia.

I would love to know some more about these blogs, anything that can help a fellow FF :)

So does it involve somewhere kind of FRUity?

This secret agent stuff is all pretty peasanty.

I know. I have a conference in Sao Paulo next Oct and I've been keeping an eye on LM everyday to wait for the airlines to open up their inventory. Then all of the sudden I noticed the price had dropped by 1/2, I grabbed it like crazy! Unfortunately I could only grab one way as my return trip is in mid Oct, and the airlines have not release the seat yet. But it was good enough!

And how are you planning to get back?

Yes, it is kind of fruity. But I've PM'd you the other trick as well. I've received lots of requests. Some knew about it, but most don't.

Anyway, it's getting a bit too much, so if anyone else would like to know and doesn't get the secret agent code, maybe ask some of the above fellow AFF members.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

And how are you planning to get back?

This is where diversifying the points is important. Several options:

1. Use VA points (now they are running a 15% promotion), I can fly back with EY, GRU - AUH - BNE. The cleanest itinerary.
2. Use KF points, GRU - BCN (technical stop-over) - SIN - BNE. Less points but longer traveling time.
3. I can always wait for other airlines to release seats gradually in *A, and use LM, although paying at full 85000. So far I've seen GRU - IST - KUL available now. Then I can use Enrich points to redeem one way KUL to BNE. Or worst comes worst, one way KUL to OOL with Air Asia.

To play point game, definitely diversify the points and credit card is your friend. I have altitude black which allows me to transfer to 5 different FFP so I have all the above options. Also never underestimate LCC. Yes, they are s**t, but in situation where you need to connect to a hub, they are the only ones that can give you cheap one way ticket. Anything is better than stranded at the airport unable to get home.

Remember we are not as lucky as Americans. In Aus we only have a handful of *A, SQ being the biggest. Unfortunately stingy SQ has blocked all J seats to and fro Aus to their partners until 14 days prior. Most of the other *A only fly to Sydney +/- Melbourne. So connecting to the nearby hubs is important for other 90% of Australians neglected by these airlines.

I wish Ansett is still alive, or VA would join *A (and still maintain EY)........

Many thanks to those who sent me PMs, my low post count apparently precluded me from replying.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

What do you mean? The hidden city trick is not restricted to Y. If there is J or F available, the trick should work too.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

There a bunch of trick-it routes that only have Y availability. Is this route one of them? (i.e. have you managed to find any J or F availability).

OK, I didn't know that.

Well, the fruity one has plenty of J space.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

This is In Y right?

I just had a fellow member who PM'd me he found 2 x J to maple land using the trick! Although it was gone in 2 days.....

So it means, it's still there! Just gotta look hard, trying to find the needle in the haystack.

Hi VAG newbie.

I can't send you a pm yet. Appreciate it if you could PM me the tip.

Getting married next year, any thing to lower cost for honey moon is greatly appreciated.

Could someone message me the trick as well? Have some LM stored but always tricky getting flights I want.

Cheers

I wouldn't use any of the throw away ticket tricks for honey moon. Unless you are planning to just bring carry on luggage, but I don't know how are you gonna do that on your honeymoon.

If I were you, I would consider either purchasing USDM or Alaska (both running promotions now) and use their lax routing rules to explore both Asia and North America. If you are creative, you can even get a RTW itinerary cheap.

Not sure what you did on your honeymoon, but if you aren't leaving the hotel room, HLO should be easy ;)
