Just bought 15k (pre-bonus) with the hope that I will receive the 3x1 bonus email within the next 24 hrs. At 200% bonus, I'm a speculative buyer for about ~200k points even with LMs warts and all.

The 15,000-miles requirement has been explicitly stated in the T&Cs of the 3x1 email. For at least the past couple of weeks it had been allowing seemingly unlimited additional 5,000-mile transactions (T&Cs notwithstanding), but a member of our group has this morning reported that they were only able to make two transactions at the 3x1 level (so 10,000+20,000 in total).

You don't actually need to wait for the bonus email after buying, just do a dummy purchase to see when the bonus kicks in. For me it was a couple of hours before I actually received the mail.

Terms and Conditions:

This promotion is exclusive for members who: a. have received the email of this promotion b. have made a miles purchase transaction greater than or equal to 15,000 LifeMiles From May 3rd to May 30th, 2017. c. Make a second miles purchase transaction of up to 5000 miles The bonus percentage for the second miles purchase transaction is 200%. (...) This promotion applies for miles purchases made between May 4th and May 31st, 2017 (between 00.00-23.59 GMT -6, El Salvador).

In what sense? You bought 15k and then more than a day later the option doesn't show up when you try to buy?

Otherwise, the end of May 30 El Salvador time is still a fair few hours away.

I didn't buy 15k, I purchased less hoping the 3:1 offer would come through. Never mind, there will always be other opportunities.

Got the 3x1 bonus email overnight, but limited to two lots of 5,000 points at 3x1 as BacchusMarsh said. I'm a little disappointed I couldn't max out the offer but my average buy price (1.32c) is still below the 140% offer.

Others appear to have made made more than two transactions at 3x1. I wonder if this is due to a larger initial purchase or if LM caught onto it and has now clamped down on all follow up 3x1 bonuses.

Similar to the above reports, my 1K purchase didn't trigger the email so I bought additional 15K, got the 3x1 offer this morning but was able to buy only twice.

Others appear to have made made more than two transactions at 3x1. I wonder if this is due to a larger initial purchase or if LM caught onto it and has now clamped down all all follow up 3x1 bonuses.

The latter, I would say. It previously worked for 15k purchases.

I bought 120000 miles and hasn't triggered a 3 for 1 offer.However worked out they had let me buy well over the supposed yearly limit on buying miles.
The offer in this promo has been extended to 1600 AEST today.

Yep, I dont think you need the email..

Log into your account and just select 5000 miles to purchase ( as a dummy purchase ) and check the summary says 15000

was able to purchase 2 X 5000 just now, and stopped at third attempt.

I did not purchase my full allocation first time around, so with this discount, average cost is back to the 2 for 1 rate for me, so im happy!

i think someone on OMAAT said they managed to buy 7 sets of the 5000 miles... did anyone here get more than 2 or 3? i only got 2... pretty disappointed... better than nothing i guess

I know of several people with over ten sets... I'm sure someone would have gone for the "maximum", whatever that was.

Oh gosh put through one purchase miles transaction. Got a message that seemed like an error message so did it again. Now it seems both went through. I wonder if amex can cancel one, otherwise will somehow use the extra miles.
