On the confirmation email from Avianca it will have there booking reference as well as airline booking reference. Go to Airline website use airline reference and manage your booking then seat select. I have had success with most airlines flown - the ones which I could not do online I rang the carrier

finally managed to redeem KUL-xSIN-xTPE-xICN-KUL (SQ, BR, BR, OZ) via screenshot method.. wanted to add NRT/HND on the last leg but got knocked back coz they dont allow change of airport ! anyway happy with this.. :) oh btw..anyone know how i can select seat for the flights??

Did my first screenshot booking. When I went to pay my taxes one sectors on Thai was no longer available. They offered me an alternative flight on Singapore which I gladly accepted!

J SYD-BKK-PVG
J PVG-SIN-SYD (All A380)

80k + Taxes $US130

Gday

KUL-xNRT-xHND-SYD NH J

40,000 points plus $USD90 tax and fees. Booked on the website.

Pele.

I haven't booked it but have seen SYD - LAX on OZ in J to ICN then F to LAX for 111K points which isn't too bad a deal.

Stop over was around 2 hours iirc

Yes I have seen that option.

I had SYD-LAX on OZ in J all the way ( 80000 points ) or the J to ICN and F to LAX for 111000 points.

In essence you are charged F points for a mixed booking. I ended up booking 2 x J SYD-ICN-LAX for 80k + tax

CHC-SIN-BKK SQ J for December
40,000 miles and $72 tax. Used the screenshot method as connection was greater than 8hrs,got an email back saying to call them to pay taxes but they actually called me 5mins after I received their email and took less than 5mins to process payment

Just did my first ever screenshot booking and first Lifemiles booking in general.
MEL-BKK-NRT on Thai in J
Took 2 emails and about 30 minutes on the phone to process the payment. 2 x 40,000 miles +US$173

This website forum and all of the info to be found here continues to pay dividends.

i've noticed that united.com is not showing as much award availability as lifemiles.

just in case others use UA to more easily find award flights you might want to do a check on LM if you have a specific date in mind.

Almost a waste... or at least not an optimum use.... but getting 2xJ to USA for July 17 seemed a bit hard... ended up with AKL-SFO on UA ....as we both have many APD on NZ...getting there is no problem...2 x 80k... very little tax...

Would have liked to have done NH to ORD via HND/NRT again.... but only 1 seat available.... rats.

2 x TG J, NGO-BKKx-PER in mid Jan, 37,000 pts and $818 co pay, taxes fees. First screenshot booking, less painful than expected.

FRA-BKK-SYD TG F A380 + B747. Screenshot method to get the 12 hour layover in BKK rather than the 2 hour one. TG F availability ex-Europe is as good as it has ever been. Emailed screenshots and passport details, received a phone call the next Business Day, paid taxes over the phone. Less than 8 minute call and received e-tickets a few minutes afterwards. Very easy. The person who called me spoke excellent English and the line seemed a lot clearer than when I call them – I didn’t have to speak nearly as slowly. I’d recommend taking their call if you can rather than calling them back!

Loving Lifemiles at the moment.

115,000 miles plus ~$130 fees and taxes each.

This is for my parents who’ve never flown even Y+ before. I’ve told them I’ve booked them TG J and not going to tell them they’re flying F until the day. Any suggestions on the best way to break it to them? I’m thinking asking them to facetime me when they wake up in FRA before they go to the airport? I’m going to tell them to get to BKK airport early during their layover before their flight to SYD and that they have to go through the F check-in area but not tell them anything other than that hahaha.

Don't tell them at all! Just ask them to FaceTime from the FRA First lounge!..

Sorry JT for the OT post - but just to note for others who might read this thread, there is in fact no FRA F lounge open to TG F pax. They are invited to use the LH Senator Lounge though.

KUL to BNE SQ J late December - very lucky:)

Needed to use screenshots as more than 8 hours in Singapore. Sent request Sunday afternoon and got back something Monday morning. Then spent that next 2 days trying to pat the taxes. There was some celebration and they kept leaving early each day so when I would phone at 5am Aussie time they were already gone. Anyway some lovely person took pity on me and organised for them to call me back before the deadline which they did.

My first redemption:

SYD-BKK TG J connecting with BKK-IST-BCN TK J

Total for 2 pax 68,000 miles (minimum) plus USD $1,795.18 all up.

Had to use the screenshot method SYD-BKG then BKG-BCN

Just a hint: When sending in a screenshot request include colour copies of passports to avoid delays.
I didn't do this so my first contact from support was asking for passport scans.
