Hi All,

I have a question relating to accurate numbers on seat availability within certain classes.

So here we go......

QF 9 MEL to LHR 4th July (F and A Class)

Qantas.com states there are 5 or less seats in F
Seatcounter.com states 3 in F & A 0
Expert Flyer.com States 3 in F & A 0

However what makes this interesting if you break it into sectors MEL-SIN/SIN-LHR you get different numbers.

MEL-SIN
Qantas.com states there are 4 or less seats in F
Seatcounter.com states 5 in F 2 in A
Expert Flyer.com States 5 in F 2 in A

SIN-LHR
Seatcounter.com states 5 in F 4 in A
Qantas.com states there are 5 or less seats in F
Expert flyer.com states 5 in F 4 in A

If I understand that correctly would that not mean that in fact there are more than 3 in F from MEL-LHR??

Maybe I've got this all wrong and don't understand how this works but I'd appreciate if someone could explain this.

Thanks

An airline can vary availability between Markets. Markets can vary with country, city, agency being some of the main differentials.

E/F and S/C give results based on the North American market as defined by Qantas.

Quite often these are different from what's available in an other market.

e.g. I recently was able to procure two V class "seats" ex SIN on QF when both Seat Counter and E/F were showing VC.

Also, I have found seat counter to be inaccurate with "X" class (economy redemption award classic award flights) for Qantas.

Have seen X0 where the QF on line system has allowed me to book an award.

codeshare award maybe?

It can, of course, work in the opposite way - in my case, showing X9 for a PER-MEL-WLG award with PER-MEL on JQ, not bookable on line, but ringing QF netted the seat.
