Australians still getting ripped off on International Airfares

Another article about international airfare rip-off's that most on this forum has discussed many a time.

It’s never been explained, excused or even talked about in the industry: the Great Aussie Travel Joke exists because ... it does. Yet, there is no other issue among travellers that has been more consistently complained about in my experience.

I can never tell from these articles whether the journalist fakes naivety in order to provoke outraged comments, or whether they genuinely have no clue about the topic. Having no clue isn't necessarily a crime but you should put the work in to get a clue before you publish. Unless, of course, you just want to attract eyeballs.

One assumes the same journalist would, of course, have had the integrity to have been outraged when the AUD was at half its current value a decade ago, inbound tourism demand was high and foreigners paid more to get here than Australians paid to leave.
