Australian state border restrictions

If I’m only going to be somewhere for less than 10 mins then I check out as soon as I check in and adjust the time as thankfully the App is not linked to your phone time for check out.

Yes much easier to just not check in, in most places in NSW. I’m heading to Melbourne shortly and because of the vaccine requirement for hospo and retail it’s apparently much harder not to check in, will report back!
I'm in Victoria. Every hospitality venue I've been to since we reopened has asked me to show that I have checked in and am vaccinated. Same for non-essential retail.

So I’ve heard… I’ll have my service vic app all ready to go when I fly in from Sydders!

In NSW some smaller cafes and takeaway joints aren't super strict with check-in, but weekend before last I had to show check-in and vaccination status to enter David Jones and Haigh's in Sydney CBD and at the pub this week when I went to trivia and the theatre.

As i said cafes and restaurants s cease to be required on 15th Dec, but pubs and entertainment venues will still require check in.

The most strict place that I’ve found, with regard to showing the certificate, has been Supercheap.

ABC reporting:

Pre-approved home quarantine in effect in South Australia

From today, international arrivals in Adelaide with pre-approval to complete their 14 days of quarantine at home will be able to transit directly from the airport.

There's been huge backlash over the past fortnight from travellers forced into hotel quarantine, despite having the approval to isolate at home.

SA Premier Steven Marshall says the measure was out of concern over the Omicron variant … but it has now come to an end.

"People that are coming into SA with that approval with entry check will be able to go from the airport to their approved location to complete that 14 days of quarnatine in their home residence."

Funny how 'imprisoning' a former PM without notice, then releasing her but not others, plus an international golfer, and a mother with a 6 week old baby with no access to sterilising facilities, has a knack of galvanising public angst. All of the above were approved for home quarantine and were not advised anything had changed until they were bundled on to a bus to take them to a med hotel.

On Dec 15 , in 5 days time, at most venues in NSW, QR checkin will no longer be needed. I've noticed most places in Sydney that I have visited no longer check. We are at 93% DD in NSW. I must admit I have become slack....

Updated on Queensland gov website:

Restrictions after 1am AEST 13 December

If you have been in a declared hotspot in the past 14 days you may travel to Queensland provided you:

  • are fully vaccinated
  • have a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within the 72 hours prior to arrival into Queensland.
  • agree to get a COVID-19 PCR test on day 5 following your arrival into Queensland.
If it’s not practical for you to get a PCR test on day 5 (for example, you’re staying on an island and there are no testing clinics open, or day 5 for you falls on Christmas Day), you can have your test on day 4, or as soon as practicable after day 5.

See :)

For those worrying about day 5 no stress… as soon as ‘practical’ after day 5. Equals never for some people I’m sure 😆

Depends how over zealous they are on tracking and tracing. Maybe I'm just being bitter but it'll take quite a bit for me to travel to QLD.

What that does just about guarantee is that WA will be all alone for Christmas as the border will be closed.

Exactly, as the only test place within 25kms of Port Douglas is in Mossman and their revised hours updated this week mean not open Friday (day 4 for me), Public Holidays (day 5 for me), Sundays (Day 6 for me) and frankly I leave on morning of Day 7 so need to be at the airport before they even open.

Id still like for Qld to come clean and publish what the non compliance fine is, so I can weigh up whether to go or not. If fine of $100 that's cheaper than the taxi to/from Mossman. If its like $10k, may as well stay home.

But it’s not practical in your case - so you can get one when you return to NSW if you wanted… The wording is so vague a first year law student could drive a semi trailer through it. I don’t think people are going to get in trouble or fined.

No need to test when back in NSW unless feeling unwell.

IS Queensland still sending all positives to hospital?

Soon as practical is unenforceable as it relies on a subjective assessment of what is practical. If they had any sense they'd qualify the condition but obviously.....

Interesting that the current low level outbreak on the Gold Coast is met with "face-masks and checking-in are strongly recommended" - very different tune being sung - more like living with covid.
