Watched a bit of Dan Andrew's presser today when he talked about a trial for home quarantine that Victoria are going to undertake for refugees waiting at the NSW border. There are a number of requirements;

- have to prove residence in Victoria (very reasonable)
- have to have remained on the NSW side of the border bubble for the last 14 days, i.e. cannot have gone further into NSW at any time in the 14 days
- have to be double-vaxxed (what with NSW allocation????)
- have to have been social distancing (?)

Those qualifying can apply for a permit and after due consideration 200 or so will be accepted for a trial and must cross the border and go straight home and undertake HQ for a further 14 days. Anyone already living at the address must also do 14 days HQ with them. It wasn't clear if you could wind the car window down and breathe Victorian air on the journey home. No mention either if these people will be counted in Australia's annual refugee quota of 13,750.

The threat from Covid in NSW was hyped in terms that WA and QLD premiers usually use. Someone who didn't know might have thought that Victoria must have been Covid-free.

Dan these are your residents. You shouldn't be locking them out in the first place!

Rant over.

AP has been locking out Queenslanders from QLD as well. It was on the news a couple of nights ago, they were stuck near the QLD/NSW border, willing to do 2 weeks home quarantine, but no she wouldnt let them in ! CRAZY !
If they are worried they might go walk-about from home use ankle bracelets :)
They had to do hotel quarantine.

I didnt realise Lord Howe is in lockdown too, that ludicrous

I just saw this “Chart of the Day” in the SMH evening email (it’s probably in The Age also).

No real surprise on the parochial states wanting to stay at home. But interestingly, Tassie residents are not indecisive - they just want to go somewhere else! 😀

I just don’t understand why the Canberrans don’t want to party at home?! 😂😝😎

Trend would be the interesting one.

Yeah, let that one go through to the keeper. These days, some Canberrans can cross the street and they’re ”interstate”.

The NT, well they're still sobering up from the beer-can regatta at Mindil Beach and didn't respond in time...

And hey, Croweaters, this survey just shows that QF know their international departure market. 😛

I just heard that our Prime minister "had" to fly to Sydney on the weekend in the VIP jet for a meeting (that was canceled). No quarantining and then posts pictures of he and his family together for father's day.
Not a good look when so many others could not see there fathers who were only in the next LGA but more than 5k away. Or on the Tweed border or anywhere else in lockdown.
So out of touch with the everyday people.
He actually lives in Sydney. His place of work is Canberra.

I remember doing a survey on holiday intentions. Not holidaying in my own state of Vic once we are allowed out. Sorry Vic operators.

QLD doesn't have a home quarantine program, so willing or not, it's not going to happen right now.

It certainly does, over 10,000 people were at home due to contact tracing in the last outbreak.

It's just a matter of who is allowed to use it. Arguably a known contact is more risk than somebody coming from an area of NSW with no cases.

Looks like we wont be on the Indian Pacific this Xmas !! Damn McGowan !! =

"West Australia could have its borders shut to the rest of the country for another seven months as Premier Mark McGowan
who has regularly shut off his state to the rest of Australia has told The West Australian the border bans won’t stop until at least 80 per cent of locals are vaccinated.
“Somewhere above 80 per cent we’ll try and set the date. I don’t know whether it’ll be February, March or April, I suspect it will be one of those months,” he said.
Mr McGowan boasted that the travel ban had been good for his state.

I wonder how many premiers will line up to be the grinches that stole Christmas….
