Australian state border restrictions

Very different language from Anastacia today

When questioned about moving the border, she corrected "no, we're not talking about moving the border, we're talking about a border bubble".

I think from NSW's point of view, they'd be looking to mirror the bubble arrangements with Victoria.

Whilst not a big impact during lockdown, if this were to persist after Tweed is released, I don't think many south of the river would be supportive of this, especially the areas like Kingscliff where Tweed is their major centre.

When questioned if this meant QLD police would be patrolling the checkpoint in NSW, she said it's yet to be determined.

Just to show no bias, I call out this stupid decision by ACT Health as well. This poor pregnant young women is another victim of COVID paranoia.
For those who don’t know Canberra, she was told to get her birth care from her GP - who is also located in….Canberra.

And to think I was under the impression that this sort of nonsense only happened in Queensland.

Apparently NSW is now considering giving ground (temporarily) to QLD…

Berejiklian says Qld-NSW border issue Palaszczuk’s responsibility

Annastacia Palaszczuk said discussions are underway to temporarily move the Queensland-NSW border bubble south in a bid to free tens of thousands of residents stranded by strict travel restrictions.

The Queensland Premier has repeatedly blamed her NSW counterpart for last week rejecting attempts to shift the border checkpoint to the Tweed River amid heavy restrictions on interstate movement.

On Friday, the Queensland government revealed it was approached by its counterpart in the south with a “change of heart”.

Ms Palaszczuk told reporters the shift in attitude was “really interesting to see” but declared “we’re happy to talk to them about it”.

“We’ve been very forward in putting forward our option, so let’s see what happens,” she said.

At the risk of letting the truth interfere with a good story, turns out this claim was completely false. I think the Tweed Hospital being north of the river was the deal breaker.

Whenever I hear a politician saying 'put politics aside' you just know they are about to make a political point. It is integral to their DNA.
The aims of both sides can't be met:

QLD wants to block the vast majority of Tweed from entering QLD
NSW doesn't want to split its communities

I predict nothing will happen.

Anna is copping a fair bit of heat across various social media platforms

From P&C qld about our conference:

This afternoon we were informed by the Sofitel Brisbane Central that the hotel will need to be used for humanitarian purposes over the next 3 weeks. Unfortunately, that means that we will need to relocate our conference.

We are working on various options, and we will confirm the new Brisbane venue tomorrow.
I wonder if they are the ”humanitarian“ reason why the Sofitel is not available

Does anyone say these statements out loud before they are released to the Public? Why can they sequester an entire hotel for football players but not for people who have sold their house, quit their jobs to move to Queensland. Money talks 🙁65364804-21C8-4CC1-83B3-3983EE52DA6E.jpeg
