And NT already open to Victoria and SA.

NT not yet open to metro Adelaide though as far as I can tell from the NT Health website. Have you got a better source?

Update - from a different page of NT Health website 🙄

The Chief Health Officer is revoking hotspots in South Australia for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory, effective from 12.01am on 28 July 2021.

Hotspot locations being revoked include:

South Australia

  • Metropolitan Adelaide

Maybe it's time for Alb-Wodexit ... ;)
I think many in the regions would love to ditch Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane. But we can't until we come up with a decent name. Brexit, Megxit. Wodxit just doesn't have the right ring to it.

Hope they follow suit and open to Victoria shortly too, may just save one of my events yet!
Yesterday Marshall said that it would be a fair while before opening to Victoria. Sounds like they have a new case that worked at a testing station whilst infectious for 2 days so I’d guess we would be monitoring that

Is this new? COVID-19 update

My Qld trip not looking good.

Quarantine requirements update for South Australia and Victoria

From 1am AEST Friday 30 July 2021:
  • anyone allowed to enter Queensland from South Australia or Victoria will be able to go into home quarantine (own accommodation) and get tested on day 1, 5 and 12.
  • anyone in hotel quarantine from South Australia and Victoria can finish their remaining quarantine period at home but had to continue fulfilling the necessary COVID-19 testing requirements.
This change will be a Home Quarantine Order not a Stay at Home Order, which means people required to quarantine would not be able to leave their homes other than to obtain a COVID-19 test. Occupants who reside in the same household as those required to quarantine do not need to quarantine themselves.
South Australia and Victoria will continue to be declared hotspots.
Restrictions for anyone who has been to NSW remain the same - anyone allowed to enter Queensland via road from New South Wales will need to go into 14-day hotel quarantine as NSW still remains a hotspot.
See more information about Travelling to Queensland.
There are exposure sites in QLD, NSW, VIC and SA – anyone in Queensland should continue to check the exposure venues list and follow the health advice.

It was in place at lunchtime today, when I checked for a friend attempting to get to Pt Douglas from Melbourne.

Vic as a state coming off the high risk list for Tas tonight. A list of high risk premesis remains.

I haven't been following the virus fight much over the past week, but I did think today that the Tas Premier (who has presided over no community cases for oh ... about a year ...) has managed to put various other states on high risk and take them off again, without the need to make snarky and superior comments about other states' performances. I just saw Premier Andrews' recent comments about NSW which were pretty bad, considering ... well, we know the background don't we. Stones and glass houses comes to mind. QLD and WA also in much the same boat.

Couldn’t agree more. They come across as terribly childish. Luck seems to play a huge part in whether a state has real issue with covid. Qld in particular seems to have been very lucky. I don’t know that I‘d count on past luck as an indicator of future outcomes.

Noted, Tasmania will get my holiday money if still open in 3 weeks. Queensland gives me zero confidence.

What does that even mean?
As HFF wrote - exposure in listed high risk premesis still rules you out, but others welcome.

The Mercury on-line, in part:

TASMANIA will once again open its border to Victoria, following the mainland state emerging from its fifth lockdown.

The declaration to remove Victoria’s high-risk designation will apply from midnight on Thursday, Tasmanian Public Health director Mark Veitch announced.

The ruling means people in home or hotel quarantine in Tasmania because they were recently in Victoria will be able to leave quarantine, unless they had been at a high-risk premises in Victoria or another state, or anywhere in NSW in the past 14 days.

Dr Veitch said people who had been at a high-risk premises in Victoria were still required to stay in quarantine until the quarantine and testing requirements were completed.

Tas will be on the cards as a last minute booking if Qld falls through. But I was reading the FAQs on the Spirit of Tasmania website. It says on the trip to Tas, you're basically confined to your room, but on the way back, you're allowed out. That's not very appealing.

Thank you.

Hoping QF quickly reloads their flight schedule, it’s still the covid minimum schedule for the essential workers/freight…
To be fair I think this opening caught everyone by (happy) surprise.

I might be kidding myself, but I see a glimmer of economic input into the decision. Having both NSW and VIC tourists locked out was making things tough for the tourism markets.

Agree… the airlines have clearly been caught unawares… none of them have any flights loaded over the life support schedule still! And the ones there are ridiculous prices as people book.
