Australian state border restrictions

For the sake of sanity I hope the High Court doesn’t even hear it. The man seems like trying to settle old debts. The man is not even in NSW so the law being complained about does not affect him.

While not a fan of Clive Palmer, I have schadenfreude in seeing governments lose such cases.

So with the Vic lockdown going to 2 Sept, my planned trip to Hamilton Is (or other last minute alternatives) are off. It's just adding to the doom and gloom. Double vaxxed and nowhere to go.

Have cancelled the accommodation. Still needs to cancel restaurant bookings, massage and airport parking. Wonder what's going to happen to the flight? If I cancel now, I'll get a credit, but if VA cancels first, I'll get the refund option?
I don’t know VA rules as well. Do they have a free change rule? If they do then I’d probably gamble til the last second that there will be some significant change to result in refund conditions being applicable.

I think as long as the change is before the travel date, then I'll get the travel bank credit.

And furthermore, he really should be taken to court for spreading false news and anti-vaccination articles.

oh to be a lawyer now that Clive is in town.

I wonder why he isn't suing his state of residence as well for implementing the same rules on transport drivers?

I assume the opening of the court case over the ASIC charges against him alleging fraud and breach of directors duties by him may be approaching.

We all know why he is filing a suit such as this and it is obvious that it is little to do with the effect on him personally.

I am no fan of Clive. But every country needs nutters like this sometimes. Occasionally, they are effective in checking the power of others.

Victoria has effectively locked out residents from returning from the ACT, by designating the Territory as an Extreme Risk Zone from 10pm tonight.

Darwin and Katherine are Red Zones effective 10pm as well.

He’s an anti-vaxxer right. Plus QAnon. I think I’ll pass.

Sorry, this is rubbish. He’s just promoting himself, his absurd ideas/ambitions which have nothing whatsoever to do with checking powers.

In breaking news due to the threat of mutant penguins the Victorian government has declared all of Macquarie Island, south east of Tasmania a Magenta zone.

Any penguins are required to self immolate should they even have longing thoughts of wishing to visit the sunny climes of Phillip Island.

I did say I'm no fan of Clive...no fan of Hanson or The Greens either, but they equally have their place....

Anyway.

I'll put money on NSW being declared Extreme Risk by the end of the week for WA and in all likelihood, tomorrow.

Not like it matters anyway. We are definitely going above 500 cases, weren’t ever likely to get to WA currently and the only way out of this cough show is vaccination.
The Clive Palmers’ are a totally irrelevant distraction.

The fellow who was on duty at the Hamilton Island airport yesterday for IHG Hayman said a plane from SYD yesterday arrived with 4 passengers. They were all from Tasmania and just transitted.None were coming to Hayman.

In SA, Transit is a no go zone for well, pretty much Australia really.

Yes, but the SA CHO would be feeling smart given what unfortunately happened in NT. NT's case was a domestic arrival via post-NSW international quarantine.
Yes, indeed. It was commented on by the media this morning as a good call with regards to the Olympians coming here but after all it was exactly this situation that created the Modbury cluster which was Delta and as of yesterday was declared closed with 28 days since the last local (but in isolation anyway as a close contact) case. For what it's worth I agreed with it which caused a little ruction in this household 😂

Tasmania imposes stricter border measures with NSW

Tasmania has further tightened its border restrictions with New South Wales, due to the increasing COVID-19 risk in regional areas.

Anyone who travels through the state by road or rail, even if only stopping for fuel, will be considered as having spent time in a high-risk level ONE area.

This means they'll only be able to enter the state under exceptional circumstances.

If approved, travellers must provide evidence of receiving a negative COVID-19 test in the 72 hours before they are due to arrive.

Transit through Sydney Airport by air is still allowed but is being reviewed by Public Health.

Boy, VA are being very proactive in cancelling flights. Myself and wife had a redemption flight SYD - BNE booked for 18 to 24 October, i.e. still two months away. My view was that we probably wouldn't be going but I'd wait until quite a lot closer to do anything. When we booked, about 6+ flights a day.

Got a change of booking email today. have shifted flights by a day. Just looked to see if this was really the best option, only one flight a day going up and nothing at all on the day coming back. So VA have obviously been very proactive in cancelling flights, even 2 months ahead.

While I agree this is probably correct that we won't be flying I am surprised they are doing this quite so early. Wont be accepting any change until closer myself.

I think its a 99.99% done deal and VA2 just being pragmatic I guess.
