Good to hear. Our CHO is so freakin reactive I don’t trust her with anything that doesn’t sit in a nice neat box.

OMG. The former Premier is positive. He’s taken out a lot of SA as close contacts!
And of course he had a cozy up with the Governor as well. Parliament now adjourned while they sort themselves out. Those people are blasé about the 7 days isolation. Of course they are. They still get paid.

Can only hope - hope! - that our lot doesn't follow a similar path when Tas ' opens up' ( = closes down) on Dec 15.

We live in interesting times.

I’ve been out and about a bit today in Covid struck SA. I’m noticing that there is a bit of drop off in compliance of masks. Even Bunnings no longer has the in entrance and a separate exit. It’s almost like now we have abandoned the Covid Zero Unicorn that everyone seems a bit more relaxed. The thing that will stress everyone is the lockouts now we are heading towards 90% in a few weeks. So numbers less relevant.

Solution is simple, live with covid. If you test positive isolate, but don't shut down businesses and force casual contacts who test negative to isolate for 14 days if they have tested negative. it is just unnecessary nonsense.

I think we are rapidly getting to that situation and maybe it’s in The Plan that it was SA Parliament that got the first taste of what lockdowns look like. Just been to IKEA and even the strict ‘Covid safe’ railings at the food area have gone.

but in these small businesses if someone tests positive then the rest of the staff are all going to be close contacts and in small country towns like Robe there isn't an option to get more staff in especially if the person running is the one that is positive and normally works very long hours.

I'm not sure what the solution is there

Apply the same process as schools use, Iso until test result comes back negative which should be less than a day given close contacts tests are prioritized for processing, then if still worried use RAT each shift worked until 14 days.

If staff are fully vaccinated (as they should be) and have been wearing masks unlikely 100% of them would test positive even with Delta.

Watch your vaccination rates fly now / and about time! Can’t wait until we get some cases up here!

From ABC:

CHO Nicola Spurrier said 16 cases are connected to what authorities are dubbing the “Norwood cluster” – which centres around a school reunion event which took place on Saturday night at a theatre hall in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs.

The positive cases from that event include former SA Premier Jay Weatherill.

The remaining two new cases are people who appear to have become infected interstate.

SA Health expects all the new COVID cases to be the Delta variant of the virus.

But the Premier Steven Marshall said local authorities were sufficiently concerned about the Omicron variant to impose a new requirement for all travellers from New South Wales to be tested on arrival in SA.

It’s the second time the state has changed border arrangements since opening its borders to New South Wales, Victoria and ACT on November 23.

16 from the same party. 2 from other interstates so all linked. NSW people also have to do a PCR on arrival from this afternoon as well as 72 hours prior. All free. And second one done at airport. Prof Spurrier mentioned we have moved from elimination to suppression and like Eastern states would not be releasing contact locations publically unless essential.

NSW plateau of cases, declining hospital and ICU continues:

Vic cases are rising slowly again based on 7 day averages, but hospitalisations are more stable.

FFjiTjEVIAAe9K7

ACT declining again, after recent steady climb in hospitalisations:

Shows that even with >95% double vaxed there will be some cases. We can live with this.

This is not living with Covid (like NSW, Vic and ACT) and adjusting, its panicking while the scientists assess the situation.

We just need them to stop the panic with the new variant. A statement from WHO like the leak would be very helpful right now. The press conference today suggested that the CHO was getting very stressed and the media was very pressing. But this time asking very relevant questions.
