Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Today is the first of four days of "free to move about but wear a mask in public" regime in southern Tasmania. Amazingly good compliance around Hobart this morning, more so since we haven't had to do it before.

Oh, give it a rest will ya? First time amusing; 20th time is just tedious and unimaginative.

My Hobart family think it’s hilarious sorry! They keep texting me 😂 Their neighbours made some masks, people swapping patterns. It’s just funny because it’s so 18 months ago that’s all… I would say exactly the same about any city.

If you want something Tasmanian to laugh at in that vein, choose the organising committee of Launceston's Festavale food and beverage event. They have just announced cancellation of next February's event because of "uncertainty of having to cancel close to the time" and "to ensure the health and well being of our patrons and staff".

WA and QLD Premiers, just try to top that!

Feel free to guffaw away everyone 🙄.

QF has been doing CovidPoo checks of their repat flights in conjunction with CSIRO

37 repat flights were part of study since Dec 2020 to March 2021
65% positive CovidPoo test despite all passengers neg CovidSwab test in 48hrs before boarding aircraft
Of all those passengers who had to do Q14-Howard Springs, there were only 112 positive cases/6570 total (1.7% positive CovidSwab)

And 87% correlation with aircraft with positive CovidPoo and subsequent positive CovidSwab in passengers who travelled in that aircraft.

There has not been a case of QFPoo Handlers catching Covid

Oh what a pity I love Festivale! That’s ludicrous… it’s outdoors as well. What a weird decision.

I believe they were concerned at the restrictions likely to be imposed. One of which was a maximum of 250 people standing. Given the nature of the event is that you wander around outside sampling from different stalls, a 250 limitation was never going to work.
At some stage the Government is going to have to get out of everyone's lives and stop trying to regulate a virus. Public education should be the aim now, not trying to determine the maximum number of people who can stand up in a public park.

Sure; they ran a restricted event this year in Feb and it wasn't much chop. But honestly, cancelling 4 months out, before its known what sort of restrictions might be in place tells me their heart wasn't in it.

Salamanca Markets operate right now with a few thousand people I think allowed to wander around!

Totally agree, a vast vast majority of people have had more than enough time and opportunity to avail themselves of the government provided vaccine, free of charge to protect themselves and their family and slow the spread to whatever it will be.

It’s now time to let those people sink or swim and let everyone else get on with our lives without daily press conferences from our respective state fat controllers playing With their train sets!

The minutia of our mask wearing requirements are crazy. They're only compulsory until Friday but someone has sat down and decreed every little detail. Why not just say; "wear a mask inside shops and when you're in proximity to other people"? It's only a token defence anyway, even if there was something to defend against.
It'll be interesting to see how Queensland is. Last time I was there I was told masks were compulsory but I never worked out where as, apart from the airport, just about no-one was wearing one. Even in the airport, they were more chin guards than masks. Mind you, I was only there for a day and in an industrial area.

This was posted yesterday, shows its the unvaccinated are where the bulk of the cases are:

covid
So, can we use this as conclusive evidence Covid does not transmit via 💩?😂
Don’t know for sure but QFPoo handlers must have a very robust constitution.

Once had a patient from Nepal who had a near- drowning accident at Bondi this was before the deep ocean outfall. He took a while to improve and the reason was discovered eventually - he developed pathogenic (the bad type) cholera in his lungs. The speculation was he inhaled cholera infested water into his lungs when he nearly drowned.

The irony is that Nepal is cholera endemic - but not in the lungs but caught cholera in a 1st world country
Just don't shake their hand?
I understand they have PPE . But I doubt you would wait to shake their hands in gratitude. You would be well in your way to the Valet pickup…👍 (unless you lost something in the Poo trap)

So Dan has said there will be some restrictions well into 2022. I’d imagine most other states do likewise. NSW seems the only state so far that will relax things for unvaccinated
