Hairdryers on full power 😂

Wish they’d put as much effort into their vaccination crawlout as these hyperventilating responses…
Hair is quite a common discussion point even amongst her fans!

Victorian police going into overdrive as well.

How is this reasonable.Another head strike on a hard surface. If this continues there will be a fatality.
That is common assault. Nothing less.

NSW: seemingly a sustained drop in the positivity rate - last four days below 0.85% against a backdrop of normal testing numbers; also a couple of 'one day' movements - even though a rise in hospitalisation, a drop in ICU and ventilators.

Edit: it appears using LGA data to about 21/9, Chris Billington now has each of the 12 LGAs of concern as having a Reff below 1 for a short sustained period.

The LGA of concern v others is about 60/40 at the moment and LGAs not of concern has a Reff of 1.02.

You don't get much coverage of normal life (as opposed to trade issues) of Australia on the news in China. You can bet that this will make it though.

COVID has turned the world upside down but even so hearing the words Melbourne and no-fly zone in the same sentence marks a new level of surrealism.
That and seeing the weaponry pointed at the protesters by the Vic Police. The protesters are idiots, but the response seems like overreach, especially in conjunction with the use of pepper spray the other day against a person who was apparently a photo journalist. the whole no-fly zone smacks of suppression of freedom of the press. These are not scenes I would ever have expected in Australia - and now that there is no Australia, I still would not have expected it in Victoria.

Did you expect the huge violent protests in Sydney? Idiots are everywhere unfortunately…

So my point about Victoria was really in response to the original comment that these scenes are not what we expect in Australia. I think Australia as a concept is dead and gone. All we have left is the various former colonies, each acting like their own country. SO I would usually have agreed I did not expect this behaviour in Australia either - imagine declaring a whole city a no fly zone to prevent the press from reporting on a protest!!! But as there is no Australia any more, I said Victoria.

And no I also would not have expected it in NSW either.

I think that the right to protest is pretty important, even in a pandemic. I personally think they are idiots and I would not protest, but I also think that the right to protest against decisions you don't agree with is fundamental to a free society. People are getting sick of government over-reach, and the police also must take some share of responsibility for the way they behave and that in turn provoking more people to escalate their behaviour. YMMV.

Yes the NSW authorities asking for people to 'dob in' the SYD protestors a couple of months ago, I wonder how many were fined for the BLM protests in sydney the year before.

right or wrong, if rules are rules they should be applied without fear or favour, not just when the sitting powers that be dont approve of the message.

Qld Health Minister press conference at 4pm - topic unknown

edit: nothing major

Queensland's health minister is talking about NRL tickets for people who get vaccinated

The TGA has ruled that the Queensland government can't issue tickets to the NRL to people who get their first COVID vaccine, which was part of a push for vaccines ahead of the prelims this weekend, only to people who get their second dose.

But Yvette D'Ath is furious about this and says the TGA needs to "fix it and fix it now".

There's no mention of new cases, no mention of new exposure sites, nothing of any great concern unless you were only going to get vaccinated for your free footy ticket (which you weren't, you were going because you wanted to protect yourself and your community).

This officer should be suspended, investigated, and unless extenuating circumstances are found, should be sacked from the police force. If I was the individual concerned, I would be suing the police force for medical expenses, days off work, damages etc.....at least a 7 figure amount!!

More on some of the protestors:

Melbourne protester tests positive

A man who attended yesterday's protest has tested positive for COVID-19.
The man is in hospital but not in ICU, health sources have told the ABC.

Staff at Cohealth 'frustrated and upset' by abuse that led to closures

A community health organisation in Melbourne says its staff are upset after employees were spat on and abused by protestors yesterday, forcing two vaccination clinics in the CBD to close.
The Cohealth staff also had liquid hurled at them and were heckled on their way to work as protestors swarmed the city.
Vaccine clinics at Town Hall and Queen Victoria Market have shut for at least four days for safety reasons.
Cohealth's chief executive Nicole Bartholomeusz says healthcare staff deserve to be safe at work.
"Staff are both frustrated and upset, we've been all working hard during this pandemic to protect and support people, to deal with this extra layer of stress is just not necessary," she says.

Not to worry I’m sure he is vaccinated right 😂

While not wanting to endanger the medical staff, well, maybe Darwins principle might kick in.
Unfortunately Darwin took a broader view. Considering that point whilst reading the news is not to be recommended!
