Its a Cabinet decision. Understand Cabinet structure and working? I dunno, but unlikely that all participants in a Westminster style Cabinet ever all agree with any particular decision, but its the agreed structure. Andrews had influence this time, but it was via the agency of the Prime Minister. Who knows, maybe the NSW Premier influenced previous decisions. Give and take. As I said, messy, but thats the democracy we have.

The National Cabinet is not a cabinet. It's a figure of speech.

The workings (if you can call it that) of National Cabinet are nothing like the Federal and State Cabinets.

This is a group of equals (the PM is not superior to any state Premier, only the territory Chief Ministers) and no decision is binding on any jurisdiction.

With all due respect my son is in this cohort. I have first hand knowledge of the difficulties that disabled people and their carers have experienced and continue to experience in accessing the vaccine.

I didnt say it was easy, my post was about eligiblity to access the vaccine, it is factual.

Under 40s who are not in 1a or 1b can not book for Pfizer, but the systems allows those under 40 in 1a and 1b (which includes young people with a disablity) to book a vaccine appointment (or for a carer to book it on their behalf).

There are issues with disablity care as there are for aged care, Im not disputing that but to claim they cant access appointments is untrue, the infrastructure is in place for them to book.

But the Prime Minister needed to push back, even if they agreed to reduce in Vic, Qld and WA they did not have to force it on NSW. A very sad day for Australians.

Here's an idea then. Run for NSW Parliament, get elected, get to be Premier, then you can sit in National Cabinet and say, "No, we are doing something different. Up yer kilts!". Until then, you may like to accept the fact that your Premier has very graciously participated and accepted in a compromise and NOT behaved like some of the truculent children around the table.

True but the blame for this cut on arrivals lays squarely on certain states, and the sad part is it wont lead to any better outcomes because it only takes 1 positive to interact with 1 worker who breaks safety protocols and the virus will still get out.

I did not say they cannot access appointments I said they are having difficulty with accessing the vaccine.
There are many people in residential care and many others who do not live anywhere near a Pfizer site who have had and are continuing to have difficulty in obtaining a vaccine due to their circumstances.

I find this to be very patronizing and offensive.

I don't think some of those on here recognise the difficulties of arranging any appointment let alone a vaccine administrator for many in shared disability homes.
During this epidemic i have looked after a couple of people from share homes and even for the simplest trips it means arranging ambulance transport as they are unable to use wheelchairs.Even if the ambulance is arranged it often doesn't appear as it is sitting outside a local ED.

One thing that gets me a little angry though is that I have tried on a few occasions to get such people or those from aged care that haven't been vaccinated to get their first jab in hospital.Unfortunately the guidelines are hospitals only vaccinate hospital employees.

One thing that gets me a little angry though is that I have tried on a few occasions to get such people or those from aged care that haven't been vaccinated to get their first jab in hospital.Unfortunately the guidelines are hospitals only vaccinate hospital employees.

In the early days as our GP practice didn't apply to do the vaccination, they actually referred me to the local public hospital. Who were aghast that a non employee would even consider contacting them. Having said that, Women's and Childrens Hospital here now has an AZ and Pfizer clinic.

A colleague has family member who is a NSW contract tracer who actually does it remotely from in Hobart! Whilst some are in a call cantre some of the more experienced tracer are working remotely.

All vulnerable people 1a (frome start) and 1b (from late March) have had access to vaccination for months.

For domestic borders, Nat Cab could have specified 13 weeks from today as a date from which states will not close borders. That gives a week for the tardy 1a and 1bs to get their first jab and 12 weeks to get their second. Any 1a or 1b not vaccinated by then is choosing to be at risk.

1b definition includes "Younger adults with an underlying medical condition, including those with a disability" so they have been eligible and thus been able to access the vaccine program since 3rd week of March.

I never said all had actually been vaccinated but as they are an approved cohort they are not prevented from being able to book a appointment at the state or commonwealth clinincs or a GP (although GPs not suitable as dont offer Pfizer yet).



They do. I saw some younger disabled people in wheelchairs with their carers getting vaccinated at Olympic Park yesterday - there was even a priorty queue for them to enter. And whilst the wait list for people outside 1a and 1b at Olympic Park is now over 4 weeks, there is still a separate block of slots reserved each week for 1a, 1b and their carers/household members.

Unfortnately in some cases just like with some of the aged care workers, some have been waiting for vaccinations to come for them. This is absolutely no time to sit back, they or their carers need to proactively make a booking.

This is a solveable situation that again can be done in the time frame I suggested.

Just because 1b has had access since march doesn't mean we've all been able too. I didn't get clearance from oncologist for AZ (when it was first opened to 1b) and now have to wait till next appointment to see if Pfizer is OK (and then wait till aftrr my next surgery and if qld has enough supply). I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to see a specialist outside scheduled appointments just to get OK to take vaccine.

Is that why they close the borders go into lockdown and then report no new cases and announce it was a success.
