Salient points from today's Vic DHHS Report:
My bolding.

Comment by me: Having 24 of the 28 cases from Aged Care seems quite unusual and one wonders if there was some pooling or delay in announcing the data on these cases.

Media Release
22 September 2020

Victoria has recorded 28 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 20,076.
The overall total has increased by 25 due to three cases being reclassified.

Within Victoria, 24 of the new cases are linked to outbreaks or complex cases and four are under investigation.

All of today’s 24 cases linked to outbreaks relate to aged care facilities, including residents, staff or close contacts.

Aged care outbreaks with newly linked cases include Churches of Christ Care Arcadia Aged Care Facility, Mercy Place Parkville Aged Care Facility, Princeton View Aged Care Facility, Opal Hobsons Bay Aged Care Facility, Glendale Aged Care Facility, Estia Heidelberg Aged Care Facility, Embracia Moonee Valley Aged Care Facility, Mercy Place Templestowe, Estia Keilor Aged Care Facility, Doutta Galla Woornack Aged Care Facility and Blue Cross Ruckers Hill Aged Care Facility.

Of today’s 28 new cases, there are five case in Brimbank, four cases in Moonee Valley, three cases in Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong, two in Darebin, Melton and Wyndham and single cases in Banyule, Greater Dandenong, Hume, Melbourne, Moreland and Stonnington.

....

  • 22 active cases are currently linked to the Casey community outbreak (total cases: 43) Comment by me: So no new cases in this cluster for two days.

Do they get stamped into your passport or are they e-visas? 🤣
😂. Actually, E visas I guess.

This was mine. I had to provide the number to the police officer who then took my Drivers Licence away to check I hadn't been overseas.

Naturally they have to check out all suspicious arrivals 😉
You may be right. The address on the DL isn't the address where we are staying currently. Hubby was through very quickly. I took about 10 minutes longer to be cleared even though we had started being questioned at the same time.

Refundable rates and flights AA awards and can be reticketed if no itinerary change.

I'm booking 5 nights in Melbourne for a small holiday next September. Gotta wait 2 weeks for advance QFF flight availability. Arrive afternoon Friday 17th September 2021, just in time for hopefully a Prelim Friday night and also Saturday night, both at the MCG?, just like last year. Prelim can generally get tickets for, and not too expensive, unlike the Grand Final which is very hard to get tickets and woefully expensive.

Have no doubt 2021 AFL season will be traditional, and of course Victoria get back on track. Only concern is crowd levels, would love a Richmond/Collingwood/Carlton/Essendon/Geelong 95,000 crowd.

SMH reports " Victoria's Deputy Chief Health Officer Allen Cheng has revealed that the current active 'mystery' cases with no known source are across 18 different council areas. "

Getting under 30 is not enough ......sigh.

Big announcement coming on Sunday

Mr Andrews was asked about when we'll hear about the next step in easing restrictions.

It sounds like Sunday's going to be a big one, people.

"At this stage I'll be making announcements on Sunday. That's certainly my intention.

"And they'll come into effect some time therefore, whether it's midnight Sunday or midnight Monday, we'll work that through.
"That will be, in some respects, determined by the announcements we make.

"The band we're chasing is 30 to 50 and right now we are in that… we are, in fact, better than that, just under 30.

"The key point is we've still got a few days to go and we've got to refine things and make sure that we're confident that the numbers we're getting is an accurate reflection of how much virus is out there. But these numbers are a positive trend.

"The trend is with us, the strategy is working and that's why it's so important that we stay the course and move through each of these safe and steady steps and not rush to do too much too soon.

"Otherwise all the hard work of Victorians won't count for much."

ABC News Reports:

Health authorities in NSW have confirmed six new coronavirus infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.

All the cases are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

NSW recorded no locally acquired cases for the second day in a row.

So looks like SA will open Border to NSW at midnight

Edited to say SMH reports:

"The last [case with an] unknown source of infection, was on September 7," Dr Chant said. "So whilst we have had cases reported, recently we have been able to identify the source of those."

During todays presser Gladys was asked what the conditions were for SA keeping Border open once it opens tonight, she didn't know. She expressed a hope that NSWs effective management of community transmission (keeping it low) since Vic's second wave triggered community spread in NSW, was evidence enough that they could remain open indefinitely.

I feel it is really important so that people can plan travel that they know the criteria (if any) that would see the borders close again. SA need to declare their position on this, so people can assess the risk of booking.

Agree but maybe the person to ask is SA’s CMO. I’d suggest it is more than 5 community transmissions. SA didn’t close to Qld when the 3 Qld Covidiots did their thing as the tracers were on to it.
