Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

There is a bit of confusion perhaps you could just post a link to what it was you were watching. It seemed to me that the link I posted was saying what you said, not to debate.

That looks to be a written article. As I stated, I was watching a live interview. The casual in the article you’ve linked to makes reference to people being pulled from retirement which matches the numerous reports already made from the same.

Not sure why there’s a debate here, but again, I can confirm that full time RNs are being forced onto leave, which certainly doesn’t match the reports of an influx of hospital cases.

Another death in SA Barossa Valley cluster of a local in his 70's. He developed the illness from the group of American tourists, two of whom refused to go into lockdown and they 'escaped'. Still don't know where to. Hopefully back to the states but via the east.

Another 9 cases in Tas, 8 on NW coast, and linked to the NW General Hospital. :( Now over the 100 cases mark.

It would be helpful if there was more detailed reporting on the grading of Covid cases.
There are people in hospitals, some of whom have died , but "presumably" most are recovering at home.
A breakdown would be enlightening.

They usually do in SA. I can't remember exact figures but we currently have 6 or 7 in ICU (3 who were in ICU died), 18 others being cared for in RAH, and of the other 380+ they are in isolation at home.

The USA tourists flew back to the USA.

Our health sector has a good problem to have at present, but it is still a problem.

Quite rightly they have been gearing up fora CV 19 wave. This including encouraging nurses etc to return to the workforce. This was required as CV19 clearly had the potential to overwhelm our health system. You only have look overseas to appreciate that.

But here in Oz the wave has not yet come, and based on the current trends may never come unless we have a sudden and rapid spike somewhere which now seems unlikely.

Also elective surgeries and other procedures are all down. People are avoiding hospitals. A number of medical people I know including a daughter and a niece are all indicating that their hospitals are very quiet.

And nurses also work elsewhere. Yesterday a neighbour had two of her sons have a push and shove and one had some front teeth knocked out. Dash to Dentist who treated him, but dentist was there by himself and so mum had to act as the Dental assistant for the dentist. So the several nurses at his practice and probably the other dentists were all not working.

Not sure if this is the correct thread for The Ruby P news, but police have boarded and taken the 'Black Box' similar to a flight recorder.

Recent update on the cluster in Tasmania at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) or the North West Private Hospital (NWPH), or both.

I think that is the person who returned from the USA maybe?

See the article I posted above.

One of the nine cases recently returned to Tasmania from the United States, and another case is a close contact of a previously identified case.

I think that’s talking about yesterday’s confirmed cases, whereas Pushka I think was talking about ‘patient 0’ of the NW Tas cluster, who emerged a week so IIRC.

The ABC article has a couple of mistakes. The first NWRH staff confirmed to have Covid were last week. Here is the Tassie experience-

All Tassie papers are now subscription based. The Advocate just this month. But both it and the Launceston Examiner allow a few free articles.

A little more on Tassie experience.

And they mean business policing the no travel rule.

Today a case in ICU today possibly linked to the 2 who toured Tassie as part of a group.

And the big guns join the fight.

That’s excellent, thanks drron. I use the Hobart Mercury, via a UTAS subscription, and its coverage is lamentable. Well known as the ‘Mockery’ locally.
