In terms of this round of border restrictions, those that allow transit through Melbourne are
Qld and Tas
No QLD does not.It changed at around 3pm on Friday. The paragraph saying transits through hotspots if you don't leave the airport disappeared.
If we transited MEL today we would have needed a border pass and 2 weeks mandatory HQ.Thats why we switched today's flights from DPO-MEL-MCY to LSY-SYD-MCY.

QLD police met the plane at MCY and you had to show photo ID.Asked how long I had been in Sydney and if I had been in Victoria.I said 2 hours transit in SYD from Tasmania where I have been for 5 months. You must like the cold and sent me on my way.

I have some freight I'm trying to move out of Lismore, give me a hoy if you are there again ;)

Sounds like a thorough check in QLD per usual as well 😂

COVID fragments detected in Loganholme sewage catchments, 35 suburbs on alert

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said anyone in those areas with any symptoms at all should immediately get tested.

She said: “It is critical we detect any cases that we may not be aware of as quickly as possible through our testing system, to contain any potential spread.

“We are very concerned by the new variants that are emerging overseas that are more contagious than previous variants we have seen in Queensland..

Oh ok. The Qld website has misinformed me because it still says transits are permitted.

Questions about transferring through a hotspot

If I have a layover in a hotspot am I able to enter Queensland?
Yes. If you have had a layover in an airport located in a hotspot you will be able to enter Queensland if you did not leave the airport. You will have to complete a Queensland Border Declaration Pass.
Police at the border may ask you for evidence that you were only in a hotspot to transfer flights, and not for any other reason.

Does that mean a question posed on Australian state border restrictions has an issue? I'll mark you on it.

Though that isn't on the current advice.

Entering Queensland from a COVID-19 hotspot

People who have been in a hotspot in the last 14 days or since the start date identified for the hotspot (whichever is shorter), will only be able to enter Queensland if they are a returning Queensland resident or required to enter for a limited range of essential reasons. Queensland residents returning to Queensland from a hotspot must quarantine for 14 days on entering Queensland in government arranged accommodation at their own expense. This will help reduce the chance that they might infect other people.

Testing warning for 35 suburbs south of Brisbane as QLD contact tracers struggle to locate travellers

A testing warning has gone out for 35 suburbs in Brisbane’s south after fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 were picked up in the area’s sewage.

It comes as authorities still trying to contact 50 people in Queensland connected to Melbourne Airport’s terminal four, which has been declared coronavirus exposure zone, though there is no evidence of any virus transmission there yet.

A huge contact tracing effort is underway in response however QLD Health reports many travellers are ‘not responding to our calls or texts’.

This afternoon in the QF J lounge in Sydney there were 16 pax in our section - us included.4 were wearing masks ie 2 others beside us.2 had mashs under their chins - 1 eating,1 drinking..The other 10 had no masks at all and only 2 were eating. The other 8 on their phones or computers. So a 50% failure rate.

High testing continues.

Both local cases are close contacts of already known positives and were already in isolation.

So good news again.
Lockdown to continue beyond initial 5 days? your thoughts?

I have a feeling it will be, otherwise these iso cases could leak out to moving community.

Apparently the HI Flinders “hot hotel” has suffered some water damage from faulty sprinklers and residents are being moved to another temporary location. Nothing to be worried about obviously but no doubt some will panic if they see it being evacuated

Interesting that travellers beinf evacuated from Holiday Inn hot hotels are wearing garbage bags over their heads, has Vic Health run out of masks and face shields?

Avalon being proposed as HQ site explains why Andrews wants everyone to reduce arrivals quota to a couple hundred rather than 1k plus, as howard springs single story cabin style village built at AVV wouldnt support a decent volume of arrivals. And time to build high rise with negative air pressure wouldn't get off the ground in a timely manner.

Looks like other states will have to continue to do heavy lifting, and rumours abound that Vic wont resume taking any arrivals until they have built the AVV or other remote site.

Dan’s trialing a new prototype of mask. Initial trials have had good feedback 🤣

All jokes aside I’m presuming the person is wanting to hide their identity?

Unsure..... I think it will be clearly based beyond the actual case numbers though thats for sure because they are very low.

Sigh...no, of course they were provided PPE. The poor residents just grabbed anything they could to try and shield themselves from the media's cameras. Vic Health asked the reporters not to film them (ignored) and even parked Sky buses to try and block the lens as well, but they continued to call out wanting a comment and broadcasting their image against their wishes. Lovely.... thanks media, making all of our lives better.....

What possible interest do any of us have in seeing those people individually. None.

Foxtel reporting same during Andrews Press Conf as a banner. And just told Andrews. Who looked surprised. But happy.

The world’s most famous mask wearer, the late Michael Jackson could have advised that masks are not useful to hide identity when one is sufficiently famous.

There was a suggestion it was requested/employed by the quarantinee to protect their identity.
