I wonder when we'll hear about the Australian version of this? This came from a US chain a couple of days back "Contracted to administer the vaccine to people - official COVID-19 Vaccination Program Providers".

Isnt it great that this thread is starting to slow down. 🤞

Totally agree though I do think VIC’s rapid response units setting up a blitz in the suburbs last affected over two weeks ago now will probably turn up a few cases.... mixed emotions because we want to get down to Melbourne to see family and we all know how QLD will react to even a handful of cases turning up...... but I do applaud their very aggressive approach to testing on the other hand for the safety of Victorians health....!

Dammit. Spoke too soon. 😔

3 locally acquired cases in SA.
"The source of the new infection is not known and authorities are engaging in urgent contact-tracing.

A woman in her 80s was diagnosed at the Lyell McEwin Hospital emergency department on Saturday. She was wearing a mask at the hospital but 90 people – staff and patients – at the time will be ordered to quarantine.

Since then, two other family members have been confirmed positive – a female in her 50s and a man in his 60s.

They are a child of the woman in her 80s, and the child’s partner – and one of them has worked in a medi-hotel holding quarantined patients."

well at least unlikely to be a mystery....TBC

Just wondering do any border/quarantine workers test regularly in Aust, like NZ?

Interesting isn’t it. Two jurisdictions that have “eradicated” the virus still have cases popping up (NZ and now SA). It’s almost like it’s just a virus that will continue to circulate in all communities hopefully at levels low enough to contain. As we were told from Day 1.

While we have returning travellers from overseas it will continue to pop up into the community. We can only hope it gets stomped on immediately. If the older woman hadn't gone to hospital for a completely different issue then it would have gone undetected. The main risk it seems is a visit to a local large shopping centre in the north of Adelaide.

How unfortunate. Despite the knockers, SA is doing so well. As long as they can track down their close contacts.

Not just travellers. We are have air and sea freight as well international essential workers. ''

The virus is highly transmissible and so breaches like are going to happen from time to time.

What is most crucial is that the tools are in place to deal with these outbreaks as they occur and for Australia to just get on with life. Hopefully this does not lead to state borders being closed, as that is way too blunt a tool for outbreaks such as these. Focus should now just be on "third ring" and other swift containment measures.

One only has to look at NZ where there has been a steady stream of breaches both from hotel quarantine as well as a sea port. Plus the case of their second wave outbreak is still unknown, but it is known that it is not gnomically linked the to second wave. The first new outbreak took them by surprise as they thought it was all over, but a more active strategy is seeing each new outbreak quenched. This is what covid-normal means until a successful vaccine is deployed, and perhaps even longer than that.

The NZ most recent outbreak includes two Defence Force Personnel, and so they myth that the DF means no CV19 is well and truly busted. Plus all the recent breaches are in a program that was overseen by the DF.

I don’t think the whole truth has come out yet. Think there is a very real possibility of a cluster coming out of this with some talk that it involves an aged cafe facility and possibly a child care facility.
Hopefully they can get on track of things ASAP

It's been six months since our last case of community transmission according to SA Health. Sigh. Four other members with symptoms. Possibly the link with Peppers medi hotel. Also potential transfer to the Prison system and mining sector.

Feeling sad for SA, and I have a flight booked there next weekend, now to see what happens. The main event I was going for might get cancelled.

Yatala being mentioned now.

The alternative I want is more transparency from SA Health that they are monitoring the sudden increase and reassuring the community there is no need for concern because of xyz reason/s.

I just want some indication that someone other than me has noticed the sudden increase and is actively monitoring it in case something is going awry. Not just complacency that 'everything is fine because we are perfect'.

If only someone had noticed SA Health's issue earIier. Oh, wait.

It is something we have to deal with or else leave Australians stranded overseas. Would that be your preference? Could easily have been you stranded. Or maybe SA doesn’t share in the load that every other state has to deal with except currently Victoria. You were concerned about sheer numbers. In reality it only takes one. But that’s the reality of our lives now.
