Sigh, 673 Covid deaths from the aged care facility setting, according to 7:30 report.

I think it’s 897 Covid deaths nationally at the moment

... and I think the next largest category is Ruby Princess (28)

Imagine if NSW it was sealed shut for 12 months, then by weight of pressure she finally opens to Sydney & NSW and no-one comes, then she begs for NSW visitors.
I’ll just die laughing (or crying) if say it gets to a point of Qld/NSW border opening, only to shut a week later.

Any Queenslander watching that story who still believes the QLD CHO knows what she is doing and is a compassionate person are themselves not compassionate people.Told his brain cancer was inoperable in QLD so got an operation in Sydney.Won't cure him but with chemotherapy may well give him longer and a better quality of life.To force him into hotel quarantine then tell him to arrange an Uber to take himself to chemotherapy with the Uber windows down plus no way could he meet his wife. That is cruelty.

Now Tasmania has had a worse border policy than QLD but when they give a compassionate exemption it really is compassionate.Back before June people would have to go into hotel quarantine but every day escorted to hospital for an hour at a time.
Now they are allowed to isolate in a family home.Today reached a new level when a fellow from Melbourne has been granted permission to come and isolate in his mother's home.she is 98 and dying and lived by herself. She desperately wanted to die at home so now has been granted her wish. That is how it should be done.

But we should have 8 dropping off in the next few days.

Yes as per my post of yesterday.

However in terms of the 14 day period that they will use as the trigger for Oct 19 decision these 2 will stay for that.

So it is cases within that period that is crucial as the trigger is meant to be less than 5.

Less than 5 , means only 2 more.

Though they have flagged that they will look at the story behind things. But it is looking like the next week is going to have to be very good from now on to enable the next step to occur.

We were in front of the modelling, but are probably drifting back up somewhat. ie Towards the original target date, rather than the revised one.

The way things are going we'll have Dan ask us for a big push in March 2021 to enable us to visit family at Easter more than 5KM's from your own residence.

From SMH:

A short while ago, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant gave an update on the coronavirus pandemic in the state. Here is what you need to know.
  • NSW has recorded 12 new coronavirus cases today. Four were in hotel quarantine and eight were locally acquired, including the three locally acquired cases reported in the media yesterday.
  • Of the eight local cases, five are linked to the Liverpool Hospital dialysis cluster (including one of the three cases identified yesterday). This transmission occurred following a social gathering at the home of a hospital worker who was asymptomatic and did not know she had the virus.
  • The other three local cases are connected to each other, but not to the dialysis cluster: the two other cases identified yesterday have been linked by a colleague and household contact, who has also now tested positive. Two of these three cases work at a private health clinic in Liverpool.
  • As a result of the new cases, a number of venue alerts for Sydney have been issued over the past 24 hours, with more expected this afternoon. The most recent alert is for passengers on a train which left Parramatta station at 7.13pm on Saturday and arrived at Milsons Point at 8.04pm: people on this train are casual contacts of a coronavirus case and should monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop
  • NSW recorded 12,498 tests in the latest 24-hour reporting period, a figure the Premier said "absolutely" needs to go up in light of the recent local cases
  • The Premier has also said businesses need to be better at implementing their COVIDSafe plans, citing complaints from health authorities about compliance. She said the government is considering making all businesses use the Service NSW QR code system to sign in shoppers and diners.
  • The Premier and Health Minister both expressed their frustrations with the Queensland border clock, which will be reset unless a source for those three cases not linked to the dialysis cluster is found. Mr Hazzard called Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk "cruel" and said he was being inundated with requests from people who needed to see their families.

I can see the BNE Novotel from our offices (it's a quarantine hotel). I observed an ambulance leaving the hotel earlier today (no sirens on), and I wondered if it was perhaps transporting this gentleman to chemo.
I have no idea if the Novotel is a "medi-hotel" as mentioned by the Health Minister in this article: 'I'm not happy': Queensland Premier asks Health Minister to look into 'distressing' brain cancer exemption case

Just add it to the long list of exemptions Dr Young has stuffed up :(

I'll agree that this appears to be a very sad case, and I'll ignore the insult. Only comment is that ACA's credibility ranks only slightly above Sky after Dark, so possibly we are not getting the full story.

That's why the media and opposition needs to start a conversation about what is acceptable ...... rather than the endless cries to just open up. On one hand everyone wants the lockdown to be removed but on the other the Chadstone and Kilmore cases are perfect media fodder for scaremongering and clickbait. The media is both critical of not opening up and simultaneously critical of any cases that do emerge! If people want things opened up, this scaremongering about each case needs to stop!

I remain optimistic for my Melburnian relatives and friends that things will move in the right direction on the 19th, at least a little.

QLD has just reminded NSW the clock is ticking, now 24 hours to go and all 3 are still mystery cases by Dr Young's definition.

----

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk reminds NSW residents they have 24-hours left on her deadline

She said New South Wales health authorities have just 24 hours left to trace the origins of possible community transmission cases, which were revealed yesterday. If the health department fails to do this, it will reset for another 28 days before the state border is reopened and NSW residents are allowed back into her state, due to her controversial border policy.

My idea - stop talking about Queensland all together and dancing to their tune. Gladys and Brad Hazzard talking about it is not going to change the issue, simply deny Queensland airtime. Let them fade into irrelevance. Queensland needs to come to its own conclusion about opening the borders once they have no tourism industry.

On another matter, the use of the Service NSW App QR should be mandatory, if nothing else for data privacy. I'm not thrilled hading over my details to every little cafe and pub to store on potentially insecure servers. The Service NSW App works really well.

It seems from that link that the ambulance was transporting that fellow to his chemo session.

The Service NSW App works really well.

Well only if you have a service nsw account which I do not (nor would any interstate visitor), not really looking to get one either.

I set up a new email account specifically for QR check-ins, you do not have to provide a mobile number.

I don't think an impost of getting a Service NSW account is too bad "to keep NSW safe" - if it speeds up contact tracing, given that the CovidSAFE app has basically been abandoned.

Given we will have to live with this virus it's time to optimise our lives around it - and decent and efficient contact tracing is our obligation to keep society open - we need to do our part.

As mentioned, I'm much more comfortable with NSW Government having this info as it would have to be disclosed to them anyway in the event of contract tracing being required.

A national system would be even better as state borders open up....
