Case numbers up somewhat in NSW today, but still seeing good things in the other areas.

Also being announced right now is a few changes to the NSW roadmap, bringing forward some freedoms for the fully vaccinated from Nov 8, and pushing back the stay at home requirement for unvaccinated folks from Dec 1st to Dec 15th, or a 95% DD vax rate, whichever comes first. Indoor mask requirements will also be extended for all to the 15th of December from the 1st December.

Additional freedoms / easing of restrictions from Mon 8th November:
  • Fully vaccinated people can have unlimited (fully vaccinated) guests in their home;
  • Stadiums can reopen to 100 per cent capacity for fully vaccinated patrons; and
  • Indoor venues including non-essential retail and restaurants can operate using a two-square-metre rule.
  • Nightclubs open for dancing

Yep more reductions in NSW hospitalizations and ICU, weird that no change at all in vax numbers, looks like someone was late updating the numbers.

The two quarantine prisons being built in QLD to stop the virus spread are coming under intense scrutiny now…

The federally funded one is being massively scaled back.

The state funded one is being attacked for bing a waste of money from all sides now…

Miles forced to defend Wellcamp quarantine hub while feds flag scaled-back Pinkenba facility

Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles has again defended his government’s backing of a privately built quarantine hub near Toowoomba, while the Commonwealth has flagged scaled-back plans for its Pinkenba facility as COVID-19 quarantine rules relax.

Just as the state government announced on Tuesday that the first accommodation had been built near Toowoomba’s Wellcamp Airport, the federal government released artists’ images of its drastically scaled back Brisbane hub.

Critics of the Toowoomba facility say the hub is ‘not needed’ and a ‘complete waste of taxpayers money’ especially given Pinkenba is still proceeding, even as a smaller operation than originally planned.

Today's NSW numbers and 7 day trends. Cases falling with high test numbers.

SA has no active cases in the state. We've had days of zero new infections and now the residual positives have been cleared. Masks remain. Because well 🤷‍♀️

Truck Drivers...?
Well, we had 13 maybe a few more, all of whom passed through to their home states and not one of them gave it to anyone else! From memory only a couple tested positive whilst in SA but others received a positive test result a couple of days into their trip taken from NSW. .

If they took the restrictions of masks away when they open up would you still wear one? Just interested in other's ideas from SA. I think I will when I'm out until I get my booster

Yes I will because then there is a risk. I think my comments about not wearing one are about perceived risk. Currently there is none. So it seems pointless. I don't like doing pointless things. For what it's worth I think that we are all wearing masks to get us into the habit of doing so because I can't see the mask wearing being pulled for months. Not looking forward to summer though.

I'm not a great fan of masks but from my observations of the different States, the SA approach seems more sensible. I'm not sure what the letter of the law requires but my observations have been that people mask up when walking into a business and in places like Rundle St mall. Each time I visit, the balance between masked and unmasked is noticeably different. Suggests the general public are getting bored with masks.
For general public health benefit, I can see sense in masks when people are in close proximity. For me the nuisance value out weighs the benefits, but I also hate bicycle helmets.

While we are talking about SA. I just got my SA permit for a visit next week. Lists dos and don’ts. Mask on in airports and in place on SA airspace but other than that, no mention. Maybe visitors are exempt from wearing masks otherwise? 😊

Seriously, if this isn't the place to tell visitors about wearing masks generally, where is?

The mask in SA airspace makes me laugh. NSW has the same restriction. Not sure exactly how state police are going to enforce this with their air wings...
