Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I wonder though, exactly what we are supposed to "do" with asymptomatic people. Given they have no symptoms (doh) they may have been positive for some days if not weeks, in which case they are not infectious anymore.

Based on the previous “peak” of a few hundred cases per day identified by symptomatic cases, this small increase in Victoria is not showing signs of reaching a “second wave” level.

I’d still like to see a comparison of the previous “peak” excluding returning travellers vs current number of cases excluding returning travellers. Need to compare like with like. The focus on total numbers provided only some indication of what’s really happening.

Victoria is a case of its own from those graphs. They are excellent graphs. Thanks!

The hospitalisation graph is interesting. Clearly the young people just don't need extensive support. Which we always knew I guess but those latest graphs are quite striking. We certainly haven't inundated the hospitals let alone ICU.

Which is why we should be focused on more highly targeted shut downs ->protecting the vulnerable and less so on the 'eradication' of spread that so many seem obsessed with

One Premier seems to think "the Nullarbor" is an ocean that separates his Island from Terra Australis

This one thinks bankrupting business in tourism, or upstream or downstream the tourism industry is worth a little giggle. I'd love to see her respond like that to the faces of the people who have lost their jobs because of this.

Again, these people were never designed to wield so much power.

Anyway, QLD set to confirm July 10 as opening date tomorrow. Missed another school holidays though.

Back in May Mrs SS announced that we should drive to Noosa for a week after July school holidays as it is many years since we were last there. I did some planning pending AP announcing when the NSW border was to open. No announcement was forthcoming so two weeks ago we started planning a visit to Victoria instead despite the cold weather. Last week Gladys suggested that wasn't such a good idea so now we are going to drive around parts of Northern NSW we haven't visited before and are booking accommodation .

So AP has lost our tourism dollars for July and we are spending our money elsewhere. We have a trip to SA planned for next March around a conference my wife is attending. If international travel is open by then or shortly after then our subsequent trips will be overseas. By then Queensland will be well down our list of priorities.

Not correct, as the Vic Chief Health Officer said on Monday 29 June that Victoria was facing what was 'absolutely a second peak' that would prove challenging.

75 new cases in Victoria is the Monday news.

In the short term the increased testing will reveal lots of cases, no doubt. The true test will be in another 7-10 days whether that 75 has turned into 750 or back to 30-40.

Number has been changing between 71 & 75 on ABC, yes the next few weeks will be interesting.

I would imagine this will have ramifications with possible border re-openings.

Qld has just announced that Qld sporting teams across all codes will have to quarantine for two weeks if they:

a) play a Melbourne team in Qld;
b) play a match in Melbourne; or
c) play a match against an opponent who has been in Melbourne in the prior 14 days regardless of where the match is held.

Actually, it is correct. I said wave, you said peak.

Regardless, it would need to match previous highs based on the same testing criteria, which is clearly has not. Even with higher numbers today.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has phoned in to 2GB this morning, saying there's "no reason" why Queensland shouldn't push ahead with reopening its borders next month.

"As I understand Annastacia Palaszczuk is going to make an announcement soon, I would hope to confirm the 10th of July date, she didn’t offer any more on that on Friday but I was pleased to see both Tasmania and South Australia confirmed their openings," Mr Morrison said.

"There’s no reason we can’t go ahead with those openings, they should go ahead…I’m pleased those states have pressed ahead and I hope Annastacia Palaszczuk will do the same in Queensland."

No criticism of the idiot reporter asking a stupid question? Given the appalling situation in VIC I would be very happy to see the QLD border stay very firmly shut

That doesn't sound like'a state planning to open their border soon.

Why?Just do as AP has already said with football teams. If contact with a Victorian then 14 days quarantine.
So just need to say if from Victoria you have to quarantine.
I would probably add due to the dishonesty of the few if you don't have an ID with tour place of residence quarantine as well. Why penalise everybody.
