Australian Cricket Season 2025-26 (Ashes)

I liked Lyons story on how the decision was made to have Head opening the batting with Weatherald. No one volunteered so Travis said " How hard can t be. I'll give it a go."
Wot? You mean Steve Smith didn't volunteer like he did last time 'because the team needs me to'. Meaning that Smith wanted to.

He's barely passed 50 in 2 years.......
Nope but he's stayed at the crease and taken the shine off the new ball, been a great partner to whoever was at the other end. Not like the rest of our top or middle order regularly get more than 50!

To be replaced by whom? Long list of failures of other openers.

If his back played up twice from jumping for a slips catch in this match how can he be sure it won't do it again. if he plays in the third test he will turn 39. I suspect South Australians would rather see Head and Weatherald opening.

We might even show our displeasure if Usman padded up. 😱

Adelaide has gone crazy for this Test. Accommodation is shockingly priced. Friends over from Victoria are staying in a small Airbnb for $900 a night which is cheaper than other prices I heard on the radio this morning. His dad was interviewed on the radio this morning. So laid back about it all. Such a nice change. Watched it from home eating takeaway. He was supposed to go out but decided to cancel when he heard he was opening.

The irony is that he was recalled to the test side in 2020 as a replacement for Travis Head who came down with Covid. He went on to score a century in both innings and the rest is history. He had been left out of the squad for the 2020 ashes tour which got cancelled. He was not chosen for the first 3 tests of the 2021/22 ashes series.

Very good article from Betoota.

Lots of hilarious commentary ion various papers. Geoffrey Boycott was hilarious, but I liked this one with Haydos and Stuart Broad. :)

I had a great time reading the English press yesterday

Well, enthusiastic and supportive I guess. His wife Jess was interviewed yesterday. She seems to be as impressive as her husband in her career choice and also has the two young kids to care for during his many absences. Their associated business is setting up a gin bar and venue at the back of the members area in the Village Green. Their gin mix sounds rather excellent.

A statue is something for birds to poop on and has to be searched for. A Grandstand name change will work. Change the Riverbank stand to Travball Stand.
