Australian Cricket Season 2025-26 (Ashes)

They don't seem to have grasped the difference between test cricket (a five day match) and one-day or Big Bash style cricket. There is no 'digging in' /biding your time/pacing by the batsmen.

I agree. A fellow as experienced as an opener should not have managed things so badly managed a toilet break a toilet break. Surely he went before the start of the session. Had he been right to open he might have given Weatherald time at the other end to see what the ball was doing. Having to face in your first test would not be the most relaxed way to start.
Personally I would play Weatherald and Renshaw as the openers for the next test.

Yeah. They left Weatherald out to dry in the first innings. Head didn’t do that. Team mates.

Yep to Renshaw. And there is still Bancroft.

Sitting in the Hilton Parmelia now after witnessing the best 2 days of Test cricket I've ever seen. It will long live in the memory. Nothing embarrassing about it. It had all the twists and turns inherent in cricket at its best. I'm still glad I am not a Pom, however. ☺️

And please pension off Khawaja 🙏
Politely disagree. We can't talk about Bazball being stupid and the T20 generation being unable to hold up an end in Test cricket - then drop the one guy who is an expert at seeing off the new ball, blocking, leaving and generally just showing incredible patience.

Sure he could be better about rotating the strike with low risk singles - but like we've said, most tests aren't going 5 days lately, so I'm okay with him taking his time.

Obviously he's injured and CA is trying to hide it or whatever - but that's probably the fault of the selectors / managers / whatever than the man himself.
