And up-thread there was mention of the distance between two airports that have operated as international terminals, so that would mean Tullamarine (MEL) to Essendon (MEB) must be close to a winner at 5 miles according to Great Circle Mapper.
And of course its all about how you measure "shortest".
Yeah, I would suggest they are one and the same. Though some have been known to confuse MEL and MEB upon arrivalFor that comparison I'd suggest Eagle Farm Airport and Brisbane Airport, although it can be easily be thrown out on technicalities.
