Ok. *throws away intentions

We have an international flight that is less than 2 hours mentioned up thread. Perth to Singapore is 5 hours. Even Sydney to AKL is shorter at about 3 hours. There is no way Perth to Singapore wins based on time.

Even drw-sin is going to be shorter.

I was trying to obliquely reference the fact that Qantas have cancelled the PER to SIN route and thus the time for the flight is 0 hours.
My sons have a poor view of my sense of humour. Maybe they are correct.

Doh!

That's pretty funny, shame I'm so slow. Still I guess Adl-sin was shorter, sooner.

And of course its all about how you measure "shortest". If we say that flight time is the difference between departure time and arrival time, then BNE-LAX is -3hr55m.

And up-thread there was mention of the distance between two airports that have operated as international terminals, so that would mean Tullamarine (MEL) to Essendon (MEB) must be close to a winner at 5 miles according to Great Circle Mapper.

But of course neither of these is really what the OP is looking for :)

For that comparison I'd suggest Eagle Farm Airport and Brisbane Airport, although it can be easily be thrown out on technicalities.

And of course its all about how you measure "shortest".

Some are considering the actual offering of scheduled services. So what it the shortest period of time (measured from first regular scheduled flight to last flight when route withdrawn) for an International destination (single non-stop flight) from an Australian airport (or vice versa)?

In other words, what was the shortest lived regular service (regardless of frequency, but must have had at least 2 flights, so excludes routes announced but never flown).

Yeah, I would suggest they are one and the same. Though some have been known to confuse MEL and MEB upon arrival ;)

Technically I'd say SYD-BNE QF8 leg as it's classed as an international flight to/from intl terminals.
