Does anyone know of any Aussie interest bearing accounts which operate in $USD? Not talking about travel cards like Global Wallet here. Ideally want to transfer $USD directly from OS into an Aussie account rather than converting to $AUD - and preferably get a little interest as well. TBH, I don't even know if such accounts exist so maybe someone who regularly deals in international money transfers can help me out. This wouldn't be a one off transaction - looking to repatriate funds about 6 times a year.

I set up 2 foreign currency accounts with the Commonwealth Bank - one in US dollars and the other in GB pounds. I once bought $USD when the AUD was at $1.10. They will put you through to the currency traders and the exchange rates are way higher than retail exchange rates. You can transfer money to and from overseas accounts easily. There is ZERO interest. Even the americans get no interest on their accounts. I was once in New York and looked into getting a local account there but it is much easier to do it via the Commonwealth Bank. On one occasion I bought a Porsche in London and transferred the funds from my CBA account - no problems. The problem was the paperwork in getting the Porsche sent to Australia. The shipping fees are quite cheap but in the end I sold it in London and had the money transferred back to my CBA GBP account.
