Sydney to Paris (Cathay Pacific via HK)
Rome to Doha (Qatar direct)
Doha to Adelaide (Qatar direct)
318000 points in business class all the way
May
1.2k fees.
This is about the best my mate can find for us, I barely see any first class availability?
We would have liked to do Europe return first class, points aren't an issue but can't seem to find any availability.
Just wondering if people think that's decent value?
Neither of us have ever booked, so were a little bit confused but we're also flexible on dates and cities for arrivals and departures.
Do we just book separately via points, or is there an easier way to book?

Thanks

No need to book as a return. Could book AU-EU and EU-AU as separate one ways.
Cathay Pacific is a political risk

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Rome to Doha (Qatar direct)
Doha to Adelaide (Qatar direct)
Try Paris to Sydney on Qatar (A380 First class for 227500 points + $760) but again looks like only 1 seat left...

318 points is a business Oneworld award. It looks like you only have 3(?) stopovers and distance of 21500 miles.

You could add more stopovers and segments up to a total of 35000 miles for the same points (but more tax).

Suggest adding a segment to the Americas. BA has high surcharges and AA poor availability, try Iberia?

Qantas obviously do not like giving away awards on partner airlines especially JAL. You can join JMB for free and even if in the 18years you have been a member you haven't had a transaction or earn't a single point they will still let you search for awards.

Now QF when I searched SYD-HND would sometimes have travel via Manilla for 112000 points as a classic award or CGK for 132000 points. But when you search on JMB they have their cheap J awards (40000 points) for 2 available on 13/5 and from 20/5 every day until 13/6 except for 28/5. On the return 2 J awards available 10,15,17 and 22/5 and 8,7,9,10 and 13/6. AA had the dates until 13/5 available but that is the 330 day mark when they release awards.

Worse is when you search F awards HND-LHR. Their cheap awards (80000 points) are available every day for 2 from 1/5 to 13/6 and return from 13/5. I guess not as popular as they are flying via Alaska.

Surely if you rang QF they should be able to ticket those. They do have occasional dates for J awards on the LHR route.

I honestly can't find much, esp out of Adelaide.

Emirates taxes are ridiculous.

We'd like to both be on the same fly, tho were happy to meet in Asia or Doha.

At the moment I found Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur for 60000 points, then catch a flight to Bangkok and go to Rome with Finnair business which is around 100000 points with like $50 in taxes.

Returning seems like a pain in the cough out of Rome, I could find Paris to Doha for 90000 points and $500 in tax is first class but I can't actually select Doha to anywhere in Australia.

My friend lives in Canberra, and I live in Adelaide and I'm just finding this super complicated even though it's literally 11 months ahead lol

It's basically next to impossible to find to first class reward seats on the same flight.

I'm actually thinking to just use my Krisflyer points and fly with Singapore out of Adelaide which be significantly cheaper but alone.
