ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

So the conclusion to this little sage is that once I escalated my complaint Beem offered to pay me the $2,000 with my agreement that I would repay it once the payment showed up, which I accepted.

I did ask them to send me the Bpay reference number etc so I could follow up with the ATO and see if I could expedite things but they didn't respond to that. It seems they dealt with the ATO in the background and the payment has now been credited to my ATO account with a "processed date" 30 days after the "effective date".

I have now repaid the $2,000 to Beem so it is all now sorted.

Not a great thing to happen but it worked out in the end, although it did take some time and about 15 emails back and forth to get it resolved. I give Beem credit for managing it well once I got past the first-level support.
Thanks for sharing your experience. One of my payments through BeemIt to ATO has also gone missing. Can't figure out which payment exactly is it as ATO groups multiple payments into one. Narrowed it down to a data range. Just messaged BeemIt, will see where it goes.

Good luck. It seems you got stuck at an interesting time with them shutting credit card payments down.

To be honest I gave up on Beem completely after my missing payment experience. My payments are generally in the low 10s of thousands so $2k at a time was painful and my card didn't work most of the time. Well done to those who stuck with it untill the end generating free points. Onto the next lurk.

It was kinda too good to be true.. how did they make a profit from cc BPay transactions?
Biller pays a few, from my understanding.

Can you track which day was this on?

B2BPay seems a good option at the moment with its bonus offer and referral offers for new customers.
I would only want to pay my ATO company BAS via Amex card. Is B2bpay a good option for this?

I had a look at their site and could find the pricing/charges. Looks like it might be geared for running all bills through them so I’m not sure.

Yakpay, pay.com.au, b2bpay are all very similiar in their AMEX rates - approx 2 % depending on amount coming down slightly to 1.9 if have massive bills
Use whichever you find comfortable

I was at the supermarket today and spotted the prepaid eftpos cards. Might they work with beem?

I think I’ve missed a beat.

So Beem is OFF for ATO payments by credit card now?

I got no email from them re: BPAY but when I go into the app, I can see the option is gone (I only have a CC loaded in there)

Beem is off for all credit card payments. Destroyed by a TikToker.

Thank you level9, I trawled back up thread and found that.

Not useful for me anymore, so will leave a 1-star review on the App Store and delete.

EDIT: Wow seems the 1 star reviews are flying thick and fast already!

Next!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

No point. Usage will drop 99%, I imagine.
I guess we weren’t profitable for Beem so it was an ‘easy’ business decision for them to turn off BPay from credit card functionality. If we can use prepaid debit cards when BPay is brought back for non credit card sources, then that might be a way to continue with it. Sure was a good way of making my car lease and strata payments by BPay. Shame that’s all gone the way of the dodo :(

There is always Zippay as another no Bpay fee option if Beemit puts a stop to credit cards but you can only go as far as the assigned credit limit given ($1000 or $2000).

At least it works for every credit card I think except for Suncorp ones. So far all the banks give out points. No errors so far.
Thanks for the tip!

I started looking into Zippay and they do a credit check. I'll wait until after I apply for my next credit card as I'm not sure if the Zippay query would impact my credit report.

Nope. ATO is grouping multiple payments into one which makes it harder to track. I.e. 1k payments done on fri-sat-sun would be grouped into one 3k payment upon receipt in the ATO payments summary. I've been doing multiple 1k payments as cc for some reason blocked payments higher than that. I was only able to narrow it down to a 3-days range.

Has Sniip changed for the ATO too? I went to BPAY an after school care bill, and it said that the biller no longer accepts credit card. Haven’t had a tax bill due yet to test.

What is the point of Beem now?
It’s just the same as using your bank app
Direct bank transfer
I never used Beem for cc/Bpay - always been using it as an 'instant payment' option. I know it's pretty similar to PayID now, but I do like the option of sending payment requests to people through the app (e.g. splitting the bill after lunch).
