ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I have 3 family members who could qualify for Westpac Black Altitude and I could lend them lots of ATO bills.
Double points could get each of the family members two commas in their accounts before the deal expires in late June.
Better look at this.......

My understanding is that the cards (whenever activated, as long as it's before the cut off date) earn double points for the following three months. So my strategy was going to be: wait til I get back from Europe after Easter, cancel Amex Plat Charge and Edge, reduce limit on Citi Select and then apply for WAB. However, if the offer is time limited I might have to rethink.

As per Westpac site - apply bw 1 April 2014 and 22 June 2014:

With 12 months up post citi, checked on the Amex fees paid over the two FY's. Sure adds up and somewhat surprised what it could of bought. Luckily though all business tax deductible.
With around 80% of my card spend non Amex and also no fees, have decided to move all my ATO across to the various Visa/MC options. Even WW will get a small guernsey as the better half loves to shop at Qstore.

Haven't decided if it will be land tax or ATO that I put on our US Visa cards this month as AA miles are good for our RTW ideas.

Apparently it doesn't work. I've got some BAS coming up in the next few days and I'll PM you after that with a result too.

The comments section is illustrative. Many people do not see the wisdom in collecting points. And depending on one's circumstances, they are right. It does require a degree of planning, perseverance and basic arithmetic.

yes, there are some people out there who cannot make it all add up. Good for the FF programs. Good for us in turn I guess

so have just read the article in the SMH and all of the comments..... good for us i suppose that there are all of those doubters out there, i nearly posted that i hadn't flown international Y in years and only in J, but they had closed the comments section....... hehehe
lets just keep this going, while the going is good. i actally got down to 400k of ponts this time 2 years ago, and was having a small panic attackbut now back up to 3.5million, and that include regular bookings in J international during that time (6 J returns to KL / 3 J domestics / 2J returns Delhi). nearly time for the next Bas too isnt it.

I need help.

It's nice that this thread is now over 300 pages long. However that doesn't make it easy to find info... Perhaps a sticky post with the summary?

I currently have a CBA Diamond Visa. I've sat down and worked out that the points earn is miserable. Contemplating a change.
I would like to pay Government charges e.g. ATO on the card and whilst the Westpac Black looked attractive, they exclude government charges from points-earn.

My preferred card would be:
a) Uncapped points earn.
b) Good rate of earn with a high value for airline miles. That is, no point earning '5 points to the dollar' if these can only be exchanged for airline miles at a lower rate.
c) Not directly linked to Qantas, but with the option to use multiple airlines for flight redemptions, given how hard it can be to find these seats. So the points would accrue with the card company, not the airline until I transfer.

Any pointers appreciated.
