ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Worked on the August BAS and I put $148k on one where the $200k capping cleared in August. Nice one but the points limit is a problem. The rest went to a couple of other 0.42% favourites and some for Suites rides.
Rofl, I think most of us here don't have a similar points limit problem like yours. 1% world problems :D

amaroo no need to scare our crowd. Not when I am almost capped on a Visa credit card and looking at choices.

LOL it's a ever changing game, no doubt the last one standing will be a foreign CC ... all depends on the currency to make the play worthwhile.

My US AA card earns 0.69 miles per dollar at the moment due to the Aussie dollar clagging. AA miles are worth about 2 QF points so it can still be ok for the 0.42% ATO fee. I haven't needed AA miles recently.

Beautiful!

It's all ok amaroo. I worked today so I am watching SyFy to clear my mind for another day.

Actually my two sons have more AA miles than us because I kept buying them US Air miles when they were being offered at incredibly generous pricing. After a merger they became AA miles.

Has anyone in QLD ever tried to pay their property Transfer/Stamp Duty via the OSR BPOINT payment system and earned points?

Visa and Mastercard only, with a 0.4% surcharge.

Unfortunately, I've already exhausted my Woolies $2.5K 1 pt per $ limit this month, and so it'll have to be the Westpac Earth Black MC for 0.625 pts per dollar. Better than no points I guess -- if the points do get paid. Anyone know?

Yes, I do it in Qld often with a Citi Signature. Best of all no surcharge.

Wow, no surcharge at all? Don't you have to pay the 0.4%?

No, I just pay it at the solicitor's office & they've never tried to charge me a surcharge. This has been done at more than one solicitor's office. I always expect them to hit me up but they never do. There is no actual paperwork with a payment amount on it. I just tell them I'll be paying the transfer duty by cc & will pay the deposit (for the property purchase) by bank transfer.

I just cancelled my anz amex to avoid the annual fee and am about to cancel the woolies card. I still have my virgin high flyer, westpac amex and amex velocity, edge and reserve. And the citi signature. Cancelled the qcu a while back also. Taxes are due soon and I don't really have a card I can use as I don't feel the 0.5 is worth it for the amex fees. I have applied for a few cards lately but if someone had a good idea, I could maybe be convinced to apply for another one. Any suggestions?

Got a letter from the CBA today advising that my Diamond card will stop earning award points for ATO payments from the 2nd November. Doesn't really affect me too much as I don't put too much through but the number of cards accepted is getting smaller and smaller
