Rule of thumb applies to modern "fuel efficient" aircraft as well?
The aerodynamic differences between a "fuel efficient" aircraft, and one without that moniker, but also from the last couple of decades would be in the low single digits percentage-wise. Their efficiency comes from improvements in the engines, which aren't all that relevant in a glide, and marketing, which is also of little help.

Are pilots or any crew able to use the inflight wifi for say work purposes only? Ie checking emails, company internal sites etc?
We use the wifi but we only get access for our flight planning/navigation log app. Everything else is blocked, including company emails and other external apps like NAIPS, BoM, etc. Cabin crew have no access at all.

The guy called "Mover" on YouTube posted a video about some AI generated drivel. It centres around a USAF pilot "saving the day" when the flight crew couldn't.

Apparently this "story" is going viral.

I’ve read it. It’s totally made up AI slop that plays on stereotypes of pilots. At least when humans wrote fake stories they were somewhat more believable

Fatigue not discussed in the VA737 incident mentioned above?. Was it even considered?

Which aircraft's autopilot is able to simultaneously descend and decelerate and stay within the altitude and airspeed constraints of an arrival /approach procedure?

Everything that I've flown since 1989. 747-400, 767, A380. They sometimes need some help, particularly with speedbrake, but they can all hit multiple speed and height gates on an arrival. Keeping an eye on how they're doing is pretty basic. The 767 was very clean, and had the most trouble, but it was a common practice to very slightly (about 1 inch) crack the speed brake for the entire descent.

Reading the actual report on this, and not the AvHerald....landing without the speedbrake wasn't really the issue. It sounds like they were behind the aircraft overall. You actually need to be careful on some aircraft of manually raising the speedbrakes on landing, vs letting the automatic system to it. The panels that rise can differ (one is speedbrake, whilst the other is ground spoilers), and that can lead to the aircraft pitching up. Spoilers will happen with reverse selection, whether they are armed or not.

Yeah, the 737 doesn’t go down and slow down very well, approaching the minimum clean speed. It’s more effective if we’re descending at faster speeds (250kts+).

Having said that, ATC speed restrictions give us a leeway of +/- 10kts, not 30. That’s pushing the friendship a little too far and they should have been making speed reductions a little earlier. Staying in VNAV Path and pulling the boards out is an effective way of slowing down when clean.
