Another option coming soon: fly Vietnam Airlines from Ho Chi Minh City to Copenhagen from December 2025.

skyteam is not a ff program that most people credit in Australia due to lack of home airlines based here hence there is a lot of seats for flights to and from Australia. I have personally moved away from QFF and into Delta since i do a lot of APAC travel, and generally speaking ST flights are way cheaper than OW and *A for that reason.

I never used them but AF/KLM routinely had super low J fares ex Oz to Europe pre COVID (circa $5k). Alas, they’ve not made a return as yet…

Ok I'm a newbie to Virgin Atlantic program. I tried looking at these flights I have points but I am unable to book anything from Australia. It just doesn't allow me. What am I doing wrong? I read another article about using the advance search but I can't find that either or a multi city option. I want to get to uk, I don't care where it's via but can someone kind soul explain how I go about this. Thanks in advance😊

Welcome to AFF :)

Where exactly are you getting an error? If you can explain in a bit more detail how you're trying to search, we might be able help further. You shouldn't need to use the multi-city option.

When I put in syd or mel to fly from and enter any European city it comes up with an error, no matter what dates or cities I use.

I assume you're on the Virgin Atlantic website, have logged into your Flying Club account, and have selected "Search for reward flights" when doing your search from the home page?

Maybe as a test you could see if you still get an error if you search for (say) Sydney to Ho Chi Minh City?

Also, perhaps try searching one-way instead of return. If you search return and flights are only available in one of the directions, you'll probably get an error.

Ok so I see I have to book separate flights. Syd to ho chi Minh then ho chi Minh onwards. That seems crazy to me. I don't have to do that with Singapore, qantas or Canadian. That was obviously my problem. Thanks.

No, you don't necessarily have to book separate flights. Just that searching one-way (i.e. SYD-FRA and FRA-SYD separately) can be helpful if flights aren't available every day.

I just searched SYD-FRA on 22 April 2026 and there are multiple options.

Once you find an outbound journey you're happy with, you can do the same with the return flight search. Then, search for return flights on the exact dates you want and know are available, and complete the booking. :)

Ah that was my problem, was searching return not one way. Was starting to think I wouldn't be able to use all my points. Thanks.😊
