Does anyone use points plus pay given Classic+ has been introduced?
Probably. You can pay part of the fare (still bad value), whereas CR+ is all or nothing?

Undoubtedly yes as many out there still think it’s a “good” offer (and Qantas will happily alleviate them of the burden of hoarding all those valuable FF points).

That means it makes more sense to pay for things under $100 with a 2% cashback HSBC Everyday Global card than on a 'rewarding' Qantas earning card for effectively 0.5-1.5%.

More reason to let the airline drive your loyalty, rather than your loyalty drive the airline...

Not sure I follow that?

If I’m only redeeming for CR or upgrades, any purchase earning at least 1:1 is fine by me.

My earning of QFFP excluding credits cards is already at the rate which exceeds my ability to find relevant Classic rewards or get successful upgrades - and I'm Platinum. It makes less financial sense to add to the pile with credit card spend when you can get a better return elsewhere.

Well done Qantas. More awful changes.

A simple SYD-BNE is now going to be 9,200 points + ~$60?

And a simple SYD-BKK is now going to be 36,2000 points + ~$160?

Harder and harder to earn points and now these increases on top to boot. Need to check how much BNE-BKK on JQ goes up.

Ah the cost of doing business …

Sadly any extra points to redeem if you can EVEN find a “decent” CR means the ‘game changes’ that Favour the bank will look bad to the experts but not to the punters (witness the classic plus “success” applauded by Loyalty)

I said at the time in 2019 that reducing the $ surcharge and increasing the points spend is not doing anyone any favours where points earn is even at a 1 point per $ earn (yeah CC churn is significantly faster points earn aside the now Longer exclusion periods)

Any extra points for a redemption will need a higher spend to earn the points and as I said before when you “hold” both sides of the deal (the earn rate and the redemption rate) ….

Hi @AFF Editor

Do you know if there has been a devaluation of Classic Plus as well? I can only see a value of 1.25 cents per point for International business class (Melbourne to Singapore).
Classic Plus for Sydney to Auckland is also calculated at 1.25 cents per point for business class

Same for long-haul like Perth-London - devalued to 1.25 cents per point in business. coughs!!

Definitely appears that way

Apparently, Qantas is saying that 1.5 cents per point was a media narrative, and it was never a formal communication from Qantas. So, there is no devaluation :D

Doesn't classic plus pricing vary all the time based on what class seats are left and whether the route is on sale or not?

Thats why very rarely during a sale classic plus can be cheaper than classic.

Yes, it varies based on cash price, but the number of points required was (cashPrice - Taxes)/0.015 for international business. Now it's (cashPrice - Taxes)/0.0125
