Another fan of the live music in the bar at NTL on Fri afternoons. Not sure you’re following your own argument. This was in response to you saying they should “focus on the basics”.
And plenty of others saying they need to spend the $500 on food / seats / better IT security.
As I posted upthread I was flying out of NTL when they started this and it was really nice. Nothing like finishing a week of work and either going home or going on a trip, enjoying a drink with some live music.
It’s not like they’re playing hard rock or techno, it was pleasant tunes.
I get this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I’d argue AFF skews elderly and isn’t representative of QF’s customers.

It makes for a pleasant wait in the bar, even if you can’t hear the boarding announcements.
It seems to be very well received given the number of patrons there are. Don’t see anyone grabbing a drink and moving off elsewhere.
I think the kind of people flying Friday afternoons are probably the kind of people who will like this, despite the overwhelming negative response in this thread.
Note sure how jumped to that conclusion? I fly on Friday evenings more often than any other day. Im younger than the average AFF member and i do like live music when its an act i choose to go and see at an appropriate venue.
Qantas lounges are promoted as a place to relax, and i admit this can be hard with selfish people have loud mobile conversations and the odd ferral kids running about, but adding live musicians just seems like another polarising choice best avoided.
It would be good if lounges had quite zones (no kids, no mobile calls, no bands allowed).
Whilst the cost of the band may not totally cover catering improvements it could certainly fund paper towels for the bathroom each week (even if Qantas have to go for less lux type).
I thought (some) lounges already did have areas like this? That being said, I appreciate such areas are effectively the audio equivalent of a smoking area sectioned off by an invisible curtain that somehow miraculously prevents cigarette smoke from wafting into the non-smoking area.It would be good if lounges had quite zones (no kids, no mobile calls, no bands allowed).
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Again, SYD QP is huge, go to the other end.
Like a pissing section in a swimming pool![]()
I havent been to the QP for a while (i go to the J) ,
I don’t think the paper towels have anything to do with money, more a carbon thing.
But how would we hear the 14 announcements about the flight to Mildura??You want music in the lounge? Get something through your phone and put the earphones in. Don't intrude on my amenity.
You're kidding, right? Nooooo, we’d never suspect Qantas of saving money would we?

What’s your problem then?
