Excellent article, thanks Stephanie. I haven't had much luck buying Aeroplan points for here in Oz.
I joined up easily and the purchase of points went through but was then reversed.
My points balance was 0 to start. I'm guessing they like you to have taken a flight with them before being eligible to buy points?

Zero balance is fine for aeroplan.

When you say the purchase went through but was the. reversed… the points went into your account and then came out again? Or there was an authorisation on your credit card which then dropped off?

Thanks! I haven't taken or assigned any flights with Aeroplan before. This was my first transaction with them. Seems odd that you haven't been able to buy points, as I was in the same situation with my balance being 0 before I purchased the points I needed for this trip!

Purchase was confirmed and a cc auth went through, then a day later I received an email from Aeroplan saying purchase cancelled. I didn't follow-up but now I will. Thank you.
