COVID-19 Transit Requirements for Key International Airports is an article written by AFF editorial staff. It was updated on 24 April 2022.

Rules vary according to vaccination status. From 15th April no PCR (or RAT) is required for JNB if you are vaccinated. Still required if not vaccinated, though.

BA have included a useful tool (basically powered by Sherpa) that you can check but also links to existing bookings. Maybe other airlines have similar?

But what I found very useful was BA easily uploaded pdf copies of Oz vax certificates when required. A few days out, they send you an email if you need proof of vax for your next flight/destination. You click a link, upload the pdf and get a confirmation within 24 hrs after which you can do OLCI (no need to show stuff at the airport).

We are having to change bookings due to recent COVID +ve RAT. Will be >7 days clear on first flight out but having trouble discerning whether the TIMATIC country-summaries refer EXCLUSIVELY to Entry OR also to Transit.
Can anyone comment?

Best-looking itinerary at the moment is Lufthansa from Aust to Iceland (SYD-HND-MUC-FRA-KEF). All are LH-coded connecting flights so we assume no entry to Japan or Gernalny en route (or leaving airports involved)

Can anyone comment?

I've just updated this article.

Note that international transits are now permitted (with some conditions) in Vietnam (SGN or HAN), Taipei, Brunei and Indonesia. Pre-departure PCR testing is also no longer required for transits via Hong Kong.
