Has anyone flown into Sydney international from NZ since the bubble opened? Curious to hear what the experience was like - customs, wait times, etc.

I have a (legal) 1.5 hour International-Domestic connection and I doubt I'll get to T3 (via the train) in time to check in a bag.

My Boss flew CHC-SYD on Sunday, he said it was the quickest exit from international he has ever had. Used e-gate, nothing to declare, no queues. Said were only about 40 people on the flight.

Is there a later connecting flight? To BNE?

Straight through yesterday. Didn’t have baggage to wait for and all seemed “as normal”.

1.5 hours should be enough from all I’ve heard and my own arrival experiences lately.

Qantas had re-booked me the other day leaving only 40 minutes. That one most definitely would not have been okay so I called and got it re-routed differently.

There is a free shuttle bus run by Qantas that operates from T1 to T3 every 15 minutes (starting on the hour), it's located outside of the former Qantas seamless transfer centre (now turned NSW vaccination hub).

It travels via normal roads so if traffics bad or in a hurry then the train makes sense (as you can just use a contactless card for payment). You'll obviously need to collect bags however on my last trip through they were out before I'd been able to make a duty free purchase and get through.

If you've got your bag tagged through then you need to go to the service desk in Sydney as the self bag drop won't accept printed tags from international flights.
