Hi All

I know that technically there is no arrivals access in SIN unless on an onwards QF or OW flight.

Has anyone had experience of being granted access when onward journey is non OW?

Was to arrive on QF37 with 1 hour transfer time to LH but now switched to QF35 and have 5.5 hours to spare. Relieved in some ways as 1 hour was going to be tight given QF37 on time record....but now have a big wait without lounge access (unless I can get TK to do a status match).

All the discussion threads on SIN arrivals are closed.....

Thanks Peter

It is your departing flight that unlocks access so I can't see how you would be allowed entry into the lounge under these circumstances.

While you would have a genuine ticket to fly out of SIN, it is not an airport to try stuff like this.

If you purchased a ticket just to access a lounge, you would need to check in and get BPs. With your BPs for LH flight also in the system, SIN AP staff would wonder why you have two flights leaving at nearly the same time.

They may even pull your luggage off LH until they find you.

There have been examples of people convicted for accessing SIN AP just to access lounges.

Of all the airports in the world SIN has lots to do without lounge access.

T1 hotel booking includes a lounge as well as the pool (will finally get to the pool in April)

Edit: Sorry, they call it the Library (but its a lounge), you can pay to enter here if you dont have a hotel booking

I can't see any chance of you being allowed in to the QF lounge.

If you really want lounge access, priority pass may be worth looking into. When are you travelling? If not for a while yet (which I suspect may be the case since you mention trying to get a status match before your trip), there are a number of credit cards with varying levels of free PP cards. You would be able to bring in a guest for $32, or even for free with some higher level cards.

You can also pay for access to several lounges in SIN, although it will cost around $50 per person AFAIK, and it sounds like you're not keen on spending that much. I know I would probably spend more than that in 5 hours outside a lounge though, especially if it's in between two long flights in Y!

With 1 hr for formalities, 4.5 hrs is plenty of time..... even to take a quick excursion downtown or just to be a nearby hawker stall (eg. East Coast Lagoon, highly recommended) before coming back to airport for paid shower and boarding.

There are also multiple areas in each terminal to "re-create" the lounge experience, with chairs just as comfortable and surroundings just as quiet or quieter (people in these areas seem to know how to mind their P's and Q's and not do speakerphone calls, unlike many in lounges). Typically they are found on the mezzanine levels of the terminals. Just need to go to a convenience your beverages and food stall for your food

With 5.5 hours to play with, I’d be jumping on the MRT and enjoying a nice meal and a few drinks in town, at any number of locations, options and price points, before heading back to Changi with 1.5 hours to spare before the next segment...

Sure, it’s been awarded the world’s best airport many times over.. but it’s still a better city.

Cheers
Matt.

Just be aware that with all the smoke around Mel, your departure may be delayed and you may not have 5.5 hrs transit in SIN. My QF37 on Tues was 90mins late departing

I hope the smoke will be well and truly cleared by the time the OP travels. Hint: at the moment there is about 7.5 hrs between QF35 and LH flights out of SIN, so I assume the OP is travelling after daylight savings finishes (in AU) and begins (in Europe) when the connection is reduced to 5.5 hrs.

BTW, I was on QF37 on Monday, it was delayed 55 mins, due to a cargo door that wouldn't close. But I think we were both lucky. Tonight's was delayed almost 5 hrs due to the storms (as was SQ 208). (I am a bit of an airline nerd, but just noticed all this as my partner is MEL-SIN tonight too on Scoot, which was only delayed 45 mins, leaving about same time as QF37, even though scheduled to depart 4 hrs later than the QF flight).

Monday - Cargo door, Tuesday - Smoke, Wednesday - Storm Wonder if it will leave on time tomorrow?

Thanks for all the replies
Yes I am travelling in May as the timing suggests and have had at least 1 hour delays on this plane and missed connections before, so happy either LH or QF switched us to the earlier flight despite the wait time.

FYI our transfer time in MUC is only 45 mins but am told that is doable.....

Biggest downside of change is breakfast Flounging instead of lunch! 😳😎

Breakfast in the Flounge is quite nice. And all you really need is champagne.
