I just managed to bag a Y seat on the Airbus A380 SIN-SYD inaugural along with one SQTalker & one FlyerTalker :D .

If anyone from this forum will be onboard I'd like to try to ensure we all hook up.

I'm happy to consolidate a list at www.iangoodwin.com if there is enough interest.

I like the website, the cat reminds me of a stuffed monkey the staff of my department in north America take on every business trip. :)
I wont be joining the first flight but enjoy the experience.

Love the cat. Our mascot since 1990, acquired under similar circumstances to your own (son's favourite toy) is a small tiger. Here he is at Iguazu falls.

Hope you have an enjoyable trip. I'm sure SQ will pull out all stops to ensure you do.

Karen & I have just gotten up off the floor having laughed so hard at your pic :D Sorry for the off-topic but we couldn't let this one go!

Your tiger has now been immortalised at iangoodwin.comhttp://www.iangoodwin.com in our hall of shame alongside our well-travelled cat!

Thanks Evan,

Send me a pic of the monkey and ColinP's tiger will have a new friend (see post above) :D .

To get back on topic, I'm compiling a list at iangoodwin.com of SQTalkers/AFF'ers/FlyerTalkers who will be on the inaugural.

The object is for us all to meet up onboard so if there are others out there we don't know about they will be warmly welcomed.

Congrats on winning a seat on the first flight.

I have a question in regards to Auctionwire, as you have to be an approved bidder before placing bids above US $1000.00. Does this money get used to pay for the winning bid, or do you have to pay for the whole amount and then they refund on the US $1,000 deposit.

A very relevant question as it turns out Bundy Bear.

I emailed auctionwire after winning the item asking how to pay the balance. They advised "editing" the amount payable when paying thru PayPal to reflect the previously paid USD$1,000.00 so as to only pay the balance.

One problem. As the "seller" had invoiced me for the full amount there is no means to "edit" the amount payable on eBay!

I ended up paying the whole amount and instructed them to refund the qualifying security deposit. Being your average cynical aussie i don't expect they'll be in any rush to process the refund.

Interestingly, PayPal charged a USD$20.00 "postage & handling" fee!!!
I have no idea why this applies. Perhaps it's a generous charity donation that I was unaware I would be required to make???!!

Have a great trip! (One assumes a report will be forthcoming!!;) )

On the "travelling companion" front.. I wonder just how MANY of us travel with........ "someone else"... we've heard about cats, tigers and monkeys so far...

My "little buddy" is a Red Fox... he is - believe it or not.. a "prize" from an old time shooting gallery! :D HE doesn't get locked in car boots or hung over waterfalls however!

thanks trooper,

it seems there are quite a few of us "nutters" roaming the world with "virtual pets". it's only the very brave like us who will reveal themselves though!

I have to admit to being a TR virgin so don't expect anything too eloquent.
I do plan to photograph & video every inch of the aircraft though and am hopeful of getting a "Team 380" group shot (avec cat!).

Well done, hope you have a great trip. :)

Love it. :D
"Tigger" is the travel mascot of our division at work (although of late he's been somewhat forgotten, and now mainly travels with one of two people). He's a pretty well-travelled little guy...here's some photos of him on recent trips. :)

Cheers,

That's a great idea!! Why haven't "they" announced it as part of the "deal"???

Before the flight ALL the inagural pax on the tarmac in front of the a/c....be a top souvenier (sp?) if you ask me.... nice media handout too????

I suppose there could be some boring technical/access/secuurity objections....

I used to travel with a muppet - Rowlf - but in the new world of no checked baggage he is staying at home - he might need a run out soon though ;)

If Mrs simongr is anythong like Mrs Shano, then travelling only with carry-on is simply out of the question, so rowlf should get a guernsey when you take your J AAward ;).

OT: Rowlf features a lot in the Muppet Show DVD. His scenes where he plays on the piano were cut from the US versions but shown in the UK (to cover for the no ads).

He and beaker are my favourite characters..:p

Immortalised at iangoodwin.com

God help us if they start breeding.
Perhaps they need a father-figure like Freddie Jr!
