It's well known that discount International fares evaporate as of about 12 December each year.

So this has me wondering... Are there any destinations which are actually in low season over Christmas? Any destinations that reduces in price airfare wise rather than going up?

Where are you interested in going?

There is a really great deal with bestflights if you travel after Dec 24th till early January and it is classed as low season.

It is under $2000 including taxes and you go to basically anywhere in Europe via Singapore or Bangkok one way and via Hong Kong the other way. You are allowed 5 stopovers as well as your turnaround point and must fly with Finnair at least one flight to/from Europe.

I was thinking of using it to fly to Bangkok for New Year and return with a cheap QF fare from SIN and then continue the rest of this trip to Europe in July/August when it is summer in Europe.

Quite a few of the "conventional" destinations have high shoulder or even special discounted fares from 26 Dec to early Jan. Very dependent on carrier and prevailing winds. Don't think I've ever seen a real bargain for mid-Dec to 24 Dec though.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That really is a good fare. Just heading to Asia anywhere over the High season is at least $1600 or even more...

I'm starting to arrange a trip to Japan/Taiwan over that period. Looking at the various fares available and seeing how much they go up made me wonder if there were any ones that went down over that period (ie, Surely there must be places where people don't want to go to over that period and thus it's low season for those flights...)

Depends on the class of travel. On heavy business routes especially there are often great deals in first/business between Christmas and early/mid January.
