With the ongoing QFFF program enhancments and simplifications presumably partly aimed at reducing the number of higher tiered punters, anyone have any ideas on whether QF are still tossing out DSC emails? Or have they gone the way of the dodo?

Usually I make it to WP on my own but think this year I will fall about 150SC's short - so just trying to work out whether to book a flight up to Shanghai now or just wait until an offer comes my way....

Cheers

They still exist but it's part of the overall CRM strategy.
You will need to trigger the offer somehow.... however given you're WP and only just short, I would rate the chances of a DSC offer somewhere between zero and zero

Master FM got one recently - 50% more status credits on international flights. He has an anniversary date of 31 August and is about 35 credits short of retaining silver. The rest of us didn't get one and we all have 31 August dates. Mr FM and I are currently well short of retaining WP, but have booked flights which will take us well over by our date. Miss FM is currently SG and only has 50 SC currently. So if there is any logic to it, I assume it would be Mr FM and I are going to qualify so wouldn't be tempted by getting one and Miss FM is so far off she isn't worth targeting, but Master FM is just right.

I also got this one last week, with my end of year being June 30 and sitting between Gold and Plat...

Removing all bonus SC promotions would be a true enhancement to QFF. You want the status, earn it.

As someone who has never managed to exploit a DSC promo (well 20SC's extra, but that hardly counts as it didn't make any diff in status) I agree with this.
I might however have a different view if DSC offers was the reason I got a higher status.

Just for some data points.
I got that same promo, and I'm a SG sitting on 170SC with anniversary date of 31 December. Proabably will fall about 100-150SC short this year if I don't end up going somewhere at the end of year.

If only they ran that Easter DSC again like last year. :(

Personally it was a blessing in disguise had a DSC presented itself earlier. I'm moving back to Melbourne (hometown) on 30 June, the same day my Gold status expires. I'll no longer be doing frequent domestic trips so don't need Gold... although if a DSC offer came in April or a few weeks ago I would have pounced on it as I had no idea I'd be moving back to Melbourne!

But no matter now, VA are status matching all public servants so as soon as QF SG runs out, I'll be back in Melbourne anyway have VA SG to fall back on. Bye, Qantas!

My guess - there will be a mass email offer sometime after the end of June;)

I also got this offer. WP with currently 0 SC, expiring Mar2015. Not interesting enough to make me start accruing SCs again :p

Do you have any more info on this? As a public servant I would love a status match!

Only federal public servants though.

I say either offer to all or to none. That would be fair.
It would be better than the current system, but is nowhere near 'fair'. Even as a P1, a global DSC promotion for Q3 2014 would do absolute nothing for me (as I have already requalified P1 and earned LTG years ago) but it would create numerous 'fake' WP and P1 I would have to compete with for seating, award bookings, lounge access etc.

Imagine the outcry if the ATO 'selected' a few taxpayers to receive a discount on their tax whilst everybody else had to pay the full amount.

guess they do these promos because people are not flying QF as much anymore (ie internationally from anywhere not the east coast!)

rather than reduce the qualification levels further they target people to give them a leg up so they don't completely defect to other competitors

It is about the vast majority who earned their status in strict accordance with the published rules and do expect or receive any 'favours' from QF. I was just trying to state how 'fake' status effects those who earned their status the correct way.
