tl:dr, can you book partner awards to cities not showing online?

Hi brains trust, I've tried to search for the answer here but to no avail, and before I begin a HUACA merry go round I'm checking to make sure my request is even possible.

I'm looking to book a BA flight from Edinburgh to Chambery (CMF), with CMF not visible when trying to book on the QF website. I've double checked Award availability via AA and it's showing up fine there, so figured a call to have this booked manually would do the trick.

I'm in limbo at the moment with the original agent managing to create a PNR for the exact flight I'm after, they've calculated and charged $150 in taxes (2 pax), but can't seem to work out the number of points to charge! I was promised a call back, and I think we know how that ends.

Agent 2 understood the issue, but again couldn't and wouldn't work out the points to charge and finalise the reservation. At 818 miles I can work out that it'll be 30k each in J, but their calculator seems not to play nice with a city not bookable online.

Will I need to just keep trying to find an agent willing or able to calculate the points cost and charge me accordingly? I'm ready to pay, I just need QF to play along 🙂

In short, yes. Sorry to say you will need to keep calling.

Be sure to mention that the itinerary isn't bookable online so any telephone booking fees should be waived.

Ah, lovely - reassuring to know its possible - less reassuring to know I need to get used to the hold music again :D And thankfully there wasn't even a peep about charging an assistance fee, so one less battle to fight to get this across the line. Cheers

yes, this is an issue that some cities are not listed in the online booking system - had a similar situation when booking a domestic flight within Finland - not all AY ports are listed online. Had to do it over the phone and Qantas had to go through oneworld service centre to work out points and taxes...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Gee, thanks for the tip there too, might drop that recommendation as well to them - funny the taxes calculated without hassle though, were more than happy to take my money haha

I suspect that's BS by an incompetent agent, most likely Cape Town or Fiji based.

They should be able to independently work out the TPM (ticketed point mileage) between any two airports, then refer to Qantas' own partner classic reward tables for the points cost.

I've booked quite a few obscure Qantas partner awards over the phone and not once needed input from the oneworld service desk...
