Are Amex Transfer Bonuses to Hotel Partners like SPG common

Feel free to redirect me to an existing thread but before I transfer 150,000 points from Amex Gateway to SPG I wanted to ensure that annual or semi-regular transfer bonuses are not common (as I would wait). Is it common for Amex to offer Transfers to Hotel partners like SPG and Hilton with some regularity in Australia (Amex Gateway)?

The transfer rate for SPG is really good. In fact I not sure not sure with the SPG/Marriott merge how long this rate will last.

Agree. I've transferred all my Gateway points to SPG and then through to Marriott (where I've jumped in to quickly purchase a travel package).

Something else to bear in mind is that it's odd that AMEX have the same transfer rate for Gateway, Ascent and Ascent Premium to SPG. I've often wondered if this is an AMEX oversight, and if so, it's possible that they may devalue the Gateway transfer rate down the track.

Its definitely a loophole for Gateway but enjoy it whilst it is there.
