Are Air Canada Points still useful ex Australia?

Hello Everyone/Brains Trust,
I keep reading about the option via Maurtius but the cost is 110K plus 5K for the stopover which currently is $5775 to buy the necessary aeroplane miles. I'm not sure what I am missing but this does not seem like a bargain at all ...approx $3k one way ...isn't better to find a cheap one way J back from europe or a return J from Asia?
you wait for the 100% bonus miles deal. So the cost is halved. It should work out to around $2300 one way to europe business class, with a stopover :)

I see a few posters recommending booking via MRU on Air Mauritius (which they have done) - great idea with SQ not available ex-SYD and ex-MEL (and less availability overall using AC points). But - having flown Air Mauritius last year (MRU-PER), I was not impressed - both hard and soft product - I also got food poisoning on the flight (at least that's what I think it was - could have just been another virus). Due the to small fleet - any irregular ops is likely to be quite disruptive. Of course a stopover in Mauritius could be attractive for some (we did a 2 week stopover on our way home from Africa and it was enjoyable but really a once only thing - there are better beach destinations around the world (IMO)).
We flew MK back to Perth from Mauritius last June. Less than 24 hours before our flight, they delayed it til the following morning and told us to book our own hotel and have dinner (sans alcohol) which they will cover. Tool 4 months and multiple emails to get reimbursed!

...and we had separate Per to Syd tickets in Va J which we had to cancel and ended up flying back Per to Syd in VaA Y and also had to cough up for a motel near Per airport.

So Ìm in the camp of avoiding MK, Air Mauritius, moving forwards!

Mauritius is great for one visit but that's probably enough....
