Appropriate expectations when flying AA in DOM Y or F

Since my OP ive decided to book in SFO to LAS via LAX then LAS to LAX and skip HNL this time.
All in AA DOM F. With a QF ticket wrapped around it.

drron's post sounds interesting on service levels better than QF. Although is that in general or is that more likely due to you being LTP with AA?
Ive done International J on AA LHR to JFK and I wouldnt say it was a great experience crew wise but the 772 was a good product.

The 9 sectors I had have become 11, with three taken so far.
One flight on a new 737 with wi-fi and individual screen IFE on a trans-con and the other two a quick “American Shuttle” between Boston and New York. These were on an E190 with Wi-Fi and both fine. Especially great service from the AA Agents on the telephone today as my original flight was pushed back to some awful departure time and they were able to switch me to an earlier flight still in J/F. This flight was a QF Award so double thumbs up for that, the SST couldn’t do anything to touch it. If I hadn’t switched I’d be still be in LGA right now instead of safely tucked up here posting from Boston Back Bay :D

And every now and then you can get lucky with an International config 757 or a 772 relocating-have had both on MIA-DFW in the past.

For reference - you can track AA's domestic widebody schedule here: https://www.aacargo.com/ship/schedules.html (check under widebody schedules > US domestic). This is a good reference if your plans are flexible enough to allow choice between a narrowbody and a nice new 789 with a flat bed :)

This obviously doesn't include the 321Ts, or the 757s that have been recently refurbished and most (all?) now have lie-flat beds in "first" also.

I was saying the best crews on AA are better than QF.Fortunately we have had a few on both longhaul and domestic. Most would be about the same. The worst would be worse than QF.
And as PF says some of their service agents can be incredible. We several years ago were on a QFF RTW award.Stuck in Paris due to a general strike.QF couldn't do anything. An AA agent told us to come to CDG as they were working on alternatives-we were supposed to fly CDG-JFK on AA.By the time we got to the airport we had been booked to JFK but via LHR and MIA but with several hours wait so missing a day.Two hours later we were called to the desk at the lounge and they had arranged a direct flight.I wasn't even an Aadvantage member at that stage.

Those ultra short haul flights don't really have time for service... it's a drink (or two) and a nack basket.

I think in general the usa has a better service culture than Australia... or a least a different service culture than we do. US flight attendants will give equally good service to everyone. Or equally bad if you've caught them on a bad day. I don't think status comes in to it. At least from my experience.

Oh... and a foreign accent help... they seem to respond to that.

AA used to rate passengers-an eagle score.Mine actually got up into the area where I certainly did get better service.Basically because I would tell AA about good experiences. However in that time I was only plat.didn't make it to EXP so status was only one of the things that might count.Complain a lot and you got diddly squat no matter what your status.
