Annoyingly you can only use this if you have a passcode setup on your phone. No passcode you cant use it even though it required fingerprint at time of purchase

Now all i need is to upgrade my iPhone 5 :(

ok, so the barista was suitably impressed! Far out, this was super easy and worked just as fast as a paywave.
I like the extra level of security, fingerprint and all..

Did I mention scanning your credit card (into the apple wallet) was awfully simple and so impressive it worked first time!

I'm surprised anyone uses an iPhone without passcode nowadays! What if your phone is lost or stolen?

Its very easy to bypass the passcode if you have stolen it, so doesn't really help.
If its lost either find my iphone, or someone finding the phone can use it to call txt some of my recent numbers and get it back easier?
But I am never without my phone. Never had one lost or stolen yet...

How is this possible? There was a bug in the first version of iOS I believe but this has long been fixed, AFAIK you cannot bypass the passcode if you run the latest version of iOS...

You can do this with passcode as well without the need to have a stranger (or a thief!) going through your address book - on lock screen just hit "Emergency" and you can access info such as your spouse / next of kin contact info (and call them directly from there) and any medical info / history you may have stored on your phone.

You just jail break the phone and run the new OS from my understanding, never had to try myself.

I don't dissagree with you, its just I find it annoying, if using the finerprint, you have no option but to lock immediately, but using passcode u can do upto 4 hours.
Phone is on the desk, you get a txt msg, its an extra step to be able to read it etc... And nothing valuable or dangerous is on my phone, only banking which is all passcoded anyway, if people want to steal my phone and call my mum im sure she would love a chat.

Out of everyone I know who uses it i would say 25% because its on the setup now and they don't care/know you can turn it off. 25% for the security and 50% so their partners cant go through their phone.

Used it at Coles this morning, very easy. Will be able to leave that card at home now.

Yep, I hate having to have the passcode too. I'll see how I go using Apple Pay, but if the passcode annoys me more than the benefit of Apple Pay, I'll scrap it and use the physical card.

Loaded an Amex into Apple pay at 10 this morn - set up finger thingy password etc - turned it off within an hour - jeezuus I hate passwords to open a phone

Y'all should get the 6S. Touch ID is so fast that just tapping the home button to awaken the screen unlocks the phone. Absolutely no inconvenience.

I've got the 6S. Which settings do I need to change so that I don't need the passcode?

I have the 6s, it still annoys me...

go into your settings > touch ID & Passcode > and turn on iphone unlock

Interested as to why? Don't you just press the home button and the phone opens up? Isn't it quicker than not having it as you have to swipe right (an extra step).

I've never had it without a passcode as it's a work phone and they require it under the device management policy so for me the Touch ID was a huge time saver (especially as work requires complex passcodes)

I have found that you need a passcode as the fingerprint won't work if you have been in the pool and yr print is all wrinkled. I can't see the problem other wise with the finger print: put your finger on it and count to a half second and you are in, much quicker.

BTW, how does one access 'emergency' contact without going in to the phone?
