ANZ removing points earn on ATO payments

I reckon this is a YMMV situation...and a small test payment after 27 Feb needs to be made to be 100% sure ;)
Yes BtF we can use you as the tester.....thanks we have volunteered you as the official tester after the 26th February.

i walked into that one, didn't I?! I'm happy to take one for the team and will report back in early March. The good thing about the ANZ rewards site is the quick, itemised points statements so we'll know very quickly.

Thanks BtF we felt certain you would accept the challenge. Meanwhile I was struggling to get to YES with another bank brand today and I finally succeeded.

Always good to get to yes. So many cards falling by the wayside for ATO, my mental limit for credit cards keeps needing to stretch out, although I suspect I'm still a few behind you, Sensei Cove. Is there a running tally?

That was a question asked by that new cc issuer. Mrscove says enough is enough. I now have 8 card holders in use but they are not all for CCs. I have hotel loyalty cards, gift cards and health and seniors cards. Remember this is just a game.
Meanwhile I really enjoy the QCUcc as that one took the biggest effort to get over the line so I enjoy it the most...or is it.....

Would it be safe to make an ATO payment on this tomorrow, or should I try to get it done today?

Not sure if right thread ... re the Platinum combo cards

I called ANZ wanting to cancel our combo Amex /Visa cards (due to ATO)
Conversation went like this:

Nonpop: please cancel these cards
ANZ: why?
Nonpop: Because of the points earning that has changed since originally taking up the cards
ANZ: You mean ATO & Bpay
Nonpop: Yes
ANZ: Ok well you still have 5 months left before annual fee due, how about you keep the card until then but we increase your points earning (excluding ATO & bpay)
Nonpop: Ok tell me more
ANZ: Amex goes from 1.5 to 2 QF points and Visa from 0.5 to 1 for 3 months ... cap still applies per month on points per statement
Nonpop: Sold. We'll keep the card for additional 3 months
ANZ: Ok letter of confirmation in the post
Nonpop: Bye

Took all of 5 mins.
So we'll keep the card (Amex) and use it as filler for where our other cards earn less subject to the relevant transaction.

Thanks for sharing that nonpop. I've got the black rewards. I might call them up tomorrow and see what they offer me. I'd be happy to 0% BT if I can get it as have other points earning cards. I'll report back how I go.

I knew ANZ were stopping points earn with ATO, but thought points could still be earned on BPAY (I know Citi is stopping points earn on BPAY).

Can anybody confirm is ANZ is axing points earn on BPAY transactions?

I made a payment yesterday using ANZ Amex card. It isn't yet showing up in the transaction list, but the $ amount has been deducted from the available balance. Glad I have the email receipt.

You will be fine. Visa posts the same day - even transactions after 6pm. Amex two days later, sometimes dated the day after transaction. Points will be posted later than the transactions but on the same day

Yes. Paid on 25th and registering now on 26th.
Spoke to a friend who paid $100k in taxes this week. They don't use a credit card. :(. As its pretty much too late now I thought I should let it wash over.

Put 33k through at 11pm last night - bit of a gamble but what the hell. "Not in- can't win"

Wow that is brave.
Thanks for the tip though about visa posting same day, even after 6, but Amex not. That info is very useful

Let us know if you get the points

I had 3 cards in the family so I just did a series of three at a time. My youngest is now well into 7 figures with Qantas so he is smiling. I think I can now look at genuine use of this card other than ATO now that has ended.
At work we pay more than 0.97 cents for a Qantas FF point so it was a saving.
My SIL is flying home from Sydney to Perth in business so I looked up the last minute cash price.....$2983
So 36000 points and a small cash outlay can be valuable.

Slightly OT
Called 3 months ago to cancel Black rewards card.
Was offered the QF card fee free for a year
No thanks
"But you'll get the intro points"
No I won't - previous card in past 12 months is an exclusion
"Yes you will, this is a new application...."
What?

Long story short....

75k points posted - and fee free for a year
Also got 0.85% bonus interest rate for 3m for online saver
Rang last week and got 1.3% bonus interest for 3 months

Will stay for the 12 months

Duffa, did ANZ make a credit inquiry on your Veda file since it was a "new application" rather than a "product transfer"?

Not sure but I had the full "new application' interview over the phone. My veda score was poor a year ago, last time I checked it.

I have booked payments to get those 3 ANZ Black CCs back to zero.

I called ANZ today looking for a "deal". I have the black rewards card. Got through to retentions. Initially offered 0.5 extra ANZ points for 3 months.
Ended up settling for 12 months 0% BT. There was 16 month option with 2% advance fee which I declined.
Asked about transfer to QFF card with sign up points without a new application but wasn't an option.
